David Robert Mackain Cutting was born on Sunday, December 8th, 1991 in New Hanover, North Carolina to Sally Mackain and Robert Cutting. His younger brother, Henry, joined the family on March 5th, 1998.
David grew up on the east coast in Wilmington, North Carolina. His environment and his parents' willingness to encourage and support him in all of his endeavors led David to become a jack of all trades...and master of all, if you ask those closest to him. He grew up enjoying spending his time surfing, wakeboarding, playing Lacrosse and, of course, sailing. David was also very academically gifted. He excelled in his studies and regularly placed in the top rankings in the Science Olympiad competitions.
After high school, David moved to New Orleans, Louisiana where he studied Biochemical Engineering at Tulane University. Both here and after college, David began to discover and explore a love for traveling, regularly using any time he had off to go camping in National Parks or hit the slopes snowboarding down mountains. He also began to explore the world of cars...particularly the fast kind...and quickly came to realize that there is no better therapy than laying under a car, fixing one of its many problems.
Amy Platt was born on Monday, February 23rd, 1998 in Knoxville, Tennessee to Leslie and Jeff Platt. Her younger brother, Alan, joined them on April 5th, 2000.
Amy grew up in south Florida, in the small town of Lake Placid. Despite the smallness of her town, thanks to her parents' adventurous spirits and can-do attitudes, Amy never had a lack of activities available to keep her busy. She grew up partaking in many different activities, but was particularly drawn to dance and softball, as well as the hobbies of reading and writing. Much like David, Amy was also academically gifted and excelled throughout her time in school.
After high school, Amy moved to Pensacola, Florida to attend college at the University of West Florida. Starting out in Physics, she changed her major multiple times before finally landing on Health Sciences. Now though, she works in the world of finance. While in college, Amy also began to explore her love for traveling and all-things outdoorsy. She also discovered a newfound love for photography, the gym, and long-distance running. In the absence of dance classes, she discovered that nothing calms a racing mind quite like a sweat-inducing 5k.
