The Ravenwood hotel is situated just ten minutes from the famous Ashdown Forest.


Ashdown Forest has a rich archaeological heritage. It contains much evidence of prehistoric human activity, with the earliest evidence of human occupation dating back to 50,000 years ago. There are important Bronze Age, Iron Age, and Romano-British remains.


The area offers lots of places of interest and is famous as the magical landscape that inspired one of the world's best loved children's stories, the adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh


Places of interest...


1. Pooh Corner is situated on the edge of the Ashdown Forest, The perfect stop for playing pooh sticks, and visiting the real woods that inspired A.A.Milne´s most famous creation, Winnie the Pooh and his friends. The classic stories came to life just a short walk away in the 100 Acre Wood!


2. The Bluebell Railway is a heritage rail line with a magnificent collection of vintage steam trains and carriages. railway staff are dressed in period clothing, and visitors can see original working signal boxes, and step back in time as you board the vintage carriages. The four stations are preserved in different periods of history including Victorian, 1930s and 1950s.


3. Hever Castle is a beautiful romantic double-moated 14th century castle once the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, second wife of Henry VIII and mother of Elizabeth I.

Christmas at Hever Castle begins on the 22nd november 2024. Visitors will enjoy a seasonal experience to remember, enjoy a walk under the stars and witness the enchantment of the Castle, gardens and lake festooned with fabulous colours and twinkling lights, capturing the spirit of Christmas.


4. Spring Farm Alpacas is a family run farm who love to show what enchanting animals their alpacas are. The alpacas are treated as individuals with time, kindness and experience.. Various activities are offered on the website.


5. East Grinstead town. Famed for its Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty status, a medieval past, with upmarket medieval high street offering lots of diverse shops and beautiful places to eat and drink. Plus the UK home of the actor Tom Cruise.
