What is "forward ...together!"?

Adopted in 1851, "forward" is the official state motto of Wisconsin, embodying the ethos of progress and innovation and the state's progressive spirit. Within the Wisconsin Historical Society, our wedding venue, is the original Miss Forward statue, commissioned in 1895. "Forward ...together!" is our cheeky nod to the beautiful state we call home and also a commitment to the future and our unified devotion and progress.

What should I wear?

Cocktail attire is encouraged for our wedding. Casual attire is appropriate for our welcome celebration. Both events will be entirely indoors. Madison, WI weather in April can be unpredictable (average temperatures of 52-64 degrees with frequent rain possibilities).

How do I RSVP?

Please visit the "kindly reply" section of our website to access the form to RSVP. Your response is requested before March 1, 2026.

Can I bring a guest or child?

Please reference the "kindly reply" card with your invitation for a list of invited members from your family. If a +1 is provided or your child/children are invited, it will be clearly indicated on this card.

Will transportation be provided?

Please visit the "travel" section of our website for information on area airports and nearby parking suggestions. All of the hotels we are partnering with for guest rooms are within walking distance of the welcome celebration and wedding venue. Transportation will not be provided to the wedding. Information will be provided at the wedding on how to secure a no-cost safe ride home via rideshare should you not feel comfortable walking or driving home after a fun night of celebrating!

Are there any colors I should avoid wearing?

We kindly ask that you avoid wearing colors typically reserved for the couple, such as white, ivory, or cream. Our wedding party will be dressed in black and plum.

Is it okay to post wedding photos on social media?

We have an amazing professional photographer who will be documenting the day. We will be having an unplugged ceremony - please keep your phones and cameras tucked away during the ceremony. If you opt to take photos during the reception, please do not post any photos on social media of the bride or groom until we have had the opportunity to do so ourselves on our own social media. Please also be mindful of the privacy of our guests who may be minors. Do not post any photos of children without the express permission of their parents/guardians.

What traditions can I expect?

Bringing together 2 families means blending different cultures and traditions together. Here are a few cultural traditions we will be incorporating into our wedding:

Dollar Dance (Money Dance): Common in Mexican weddings, this is a wedding tradition where guests pay to dance briefly with the bride or groom, pinning money on them or placing it in a container to offer financial support, good fortune, and a fun interaction.

Ofrenda: An ofrenda (Spanish for "offering") is a special altar built in homes for Mexico's DĂa de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), honoring and welcoming deceased loved ones' spirits back with their favorite foods, drinks, photos, candles, marigolds, and personal items. It's a deeply personal way to remember family and friends who have passed, celebrating their lives.

Skol and Slainte: This is how you say "cheers!" in Iceland (Skol) and Ireland (Slainte). We will be celebrating our honeymoon in these European countries. Stasia's employer is also based in Denmark where they "cheers!" Viking-style with a loud Skol as well!

What other traditions does Stasia bring to the table? Well... there will be no shortage of cheese to enjoy at the wedding!
