Paul and Andee's story began in Laramie, Wyoming where they were both members of the University of Wyoming's Western Thunder Marching Band. One evening at a party, with lots of encouraging from their mutual friends, Paul decided to go after Andee. He tried to strike up a conversation. "So... you wanna go get in the hot tub?" asked Paul. "NO." said Andee, who unfortunately misinterpreted his advance. "Well, she hates me," thought Paul, believing that would be the end of their story.
Several months later, as fate would have it, Andee moved in to the same apartment building as Paul. They started going to and from band practice together, and they soon realized that they had a lot in common.
Andee and Paul started dating in the Fall of 2014, and have been together ever since. After college, Paul and Andee moved to Rochester, Minnesota to look for work and spend some time with Paul's family. In late 2017, they moved to Minneapolis. In their free time, Paul and Andee love going to Paul's family's cabin, finding fun places to hang out in the Twin Cities, and spending time with their friends and family.
While Christmas shopping in late 2017, Greg asked Katherine and Andee to pick out a diamond necklace for him to give to Paula for Christmas. He could have picked out the necklace himself, but this way, Katherine could scout out which kinds of engagement rings Andee liked while they were at the jewelry store. So sneaky!
A few weeks later, Paul asked Andee if she wanted to go for an evening walk in the woods near their house. Their neighbor had build some trails in the woods, which he decorated with archways and Christmas lights every year. Andee never suspected anything until Katherine asked if she could come, and brought her camera with. At the end of their walk, Paul knelt down under an archway and asked Andee to marry him. She ecstatically said yes right away! Back at the house, the family opened Christmas presents and popped champagne in celebration.
Andee left to spend Christmas in Wyoming a couple of days later, and though she couldn't wait to tell her family, she had kept it a secret from her mom and grandparents so that she could tell them in person. She tried to flaunt the ring in front of them so that they would notice, but after a few minutes of them not noticing anything (even after Andee tried showing off her "nail polish" to her grandma), she couldn't keep it quiet any longer. Andee's family was just as excited as Paul's, and both the Schuelers and the Shermans are thrilled for the opportunity to bring their families together.
Paul and Andee would love to have a family someday, but for now, they are both excited to work on their careers and spend some time together as a young couple. They've already killed 50% of the house plants they have purchased, so it might be a while before they're ready for kids.
Paul is working as a data analyst at SportRadar, a company that provides statistics to Fox Sports and the NFL Network. He is also studying data analytics as a graduate student at Saint Mary's University. Andee helps run a group home for people with disabilities, and will soon begin a program to become certified as a clinical music therapist. They are both living in Minneapolis' North Loop, a neighborhood full of young professionals who like to walk their dogs and have important business conversations on their smart phones. Andee and Paul are both thrilled for the opportunity to begin the rest of their lives together, and are so grateful for the love and support they have received from all of you!
