One October day Matt decided to slide head first into Andis DMs. They lived happily ever after, the end! Okay maybe a little more to it then that...

Both of us were down in Florida for our end of the year World tournaments for slowpitch softball. Andi had completed her tournaments but was essentially forced to watch Matts team play because her friends boyfriend was on his team. That night they were both encouraged to talk to each other "he is a good guy", "she is great". Both knowing of each other but that was it, and no action taken yet. The following day before the championship game Matt came by the area of the field where Andi and her friends were watching from and decided to "stretch", which just lead him to hoping around yelling in pain after almost pulling his hammy... smooth move ;). Andi had to leave during the game to catch her flight but while waiting in the airport she took the leap and did her part, and sent a friend request to Matt. You know put the ball in his court. The following day Matt opened the door, sliding into Andis DMs with..."Hey, thank you for staying and watching our games!". Who knew what would come of that!

Matt quickly learned Christmas was Andis favorite. Their first date he drove 3 hours to go Christmas shopping with her. Matt also became very aware that Andis dog, Boston, was everything to her. Boston and Matts first interaction was on New Years Eve. She ran right up to him and greeted him with her tail a wagging. Followed him inside his house where she proceeded to run straight to the Christmas tree and leave Matt a "nice to meet you" ;) Christmas present... They (Matt & Boston) have been inseparable ever since!

This was all the beginning of what became incredibly easy conversation, feeling "home" in a person, laughing like no other, finding a best friend in a lover, pterodactyl size butterflies every day and a love that neither of them knew existed! After long distance, life events in between and moving in together Christmas would yet again play a special role... Christmas morning 2023 Matt tried to get Andi up at 6 am to open presents, she didn't know why but she didn't go for it. Finally once they got to present opening, Matt got on one knee as Andi opened her present from him- a big Boston Red Sox blanket with "Wehrli #33" across it and asked Andi for forever. Without hesitation the response was yes!

Now, we have forever to stay and watch each others games <3
