The way we met is definitely not your ordinary love story. Chaz and I met online and swiped right in February 2020. We spent about a month just texting and calling back and forth getting to know each other before we finally decided to meet up for our first date.

Our first date was on March 10, 2020 at Chuy’s where we had dinner and stayed there for hours talking. Our feelings after our first date shocked us both. I sat in my car somewhat in shock of how well our first date actually went and how much I liked Chaz right away. I drove off telling myself, “I am going to marry this man.”

Chaz left with the same shocked feeling with the thought of, “Wow, this was my first time actually meeting this girl in person, and I like her a lot after only spending hours with her.” Needless to say it was a great first date and we left knowing we wanted to see each other again. A few days after our first date life took a turn. Our world shut down, due to COVID. No one was going anywhere and nothing was open, so Chaz and I had to resort to a ton of texting and phone calls, along with a few parking lot dates.

Once we felt comfortable actually leaving our homes and the possibility of being around people other than our families, we would meet up in a parking lot close to the Chuy’s where we had our first date and either eat together in our cars or just have time to sit and talk. Now most people would think that would throw a wrench in things by not being able to go out on fun dates and have other experiences together when you first start dating, but we made the best of it.

Eventually, the world started going back to normal and we were able to go on dates, hang out, and meet each other's friends and families. Our bond grew stronger, our feelings grew from really liking each other to falling in love, and now we are engaged getting ready to start a life together as The Smith’s.

Now we look forward to our wedding and we are counting down the days until we say I DO!
