December 2020
God crossed Andrea and Shawn's path on a Christian dating app. In the next two years; countless hours of communication during days, nights, weekends and holidays; a solid, strong and beautiful friendship began between them, without imagine all the supernatural experiences they'll live because God was at work.
October 2022
Both felt it was the right time to meet in person, and never said anything to each other, until they shared with each other and started to pray for open doors. Covid restrictions were active in Canada (quarantine), and US (covid vaccine). A month later, the quarantine was removed.
Andrea would travel first because Shawn's parents would be out of town for the next few months and Shawn wanted to introduce her, and she needed to find a place where to stay in Calgary (to overnight) the fastest way get to Saskatoon (where Shawn lived). Well, God opened doors by 1) providing very affordable tickets and 2) providing a place in Calgary through her sister's friend. It should be noted that Andrea's sister, without knowing anything, told her that she would travel to Canada to visit a friend, Andrea asked where does her friend live and yes... Calgary :) God was at work.
January 2023
They met for the first time, and in a matter of days, they entered into a serious and committed dating relationship. Both shared in later months it always felt like home being with each other.
Over the next months, God richly blessed them with more opportunities to spend time together in person. In their different visits to Canada and Dallas both met one another’s families, the most beloved and closest friends and their respective Pastors. The Lord was answering prayers and surprising them with supernatural doors.
July 2023
They thought it was the last time to see each other in person and knowing it'll be hard they decided to trust in God's plan all the time and keep praying for God's guidance. They'll meet again in January 2024 in Mexico, where Andrea's dad and brother live.
August 2023
God gave Andrea His confirmation to move forward on their relationship (Ec 4:9-12) and shared it with Shawn without telling him the verses and trusting that God would give him the same word and keep opening doors.
October 2023
Andrea and Shawn’s were missing each other and they prayed for open doors again. On the next 2-3 days her beloved friend Dianita shared with her that she'll visit her daughter in Seattle (4 hrs far from Saskatoon) and was travelling by herself. Andrea, asked to her if she could join and they travelled together. Remember, to get to Saskatoon it was an obligated overnight. This time her route was different but it was a blessing because she'll spent time with her friend and her daughter and then travel to Saskatoon :)
Knowing Andrea was coming, Shawn was praying, as he normally does, for God to confirm His word to him. Shawn bought 2 cards and decided to pray over them, and he was reminded about the same verse Ec 4:9–12, so he decided to wrote it down believing it was the confirmation word and waiting with peace; trusting in the Lord. Well friends, yes, this was their confirmation. WOW! They prayed and cried to give thanks to God!
January 17, 2024
Shawn visited Andrea in Mexico and God opened doors for Shawn to have a conversation with Andrea's dad: Carlos. After Shawn read a letter written in Spanish by him, Andrea's dad was very touched, blessed their relationship, recognized seeing God moving and accepted Shawn as a son.
That night, Shawn proposed to Andrea and they spent a beautiful evening together.
Seeking God’s will is a priority for both. They have persisted in prayer, sought wise counsel from their pastors, and spent time in His Word by themselves and as a couple. Their obedience and seeking God's will has opened more supernatural doors, blessing them more than they could think, ask, or imagine! :
1) Shawn found a new and better job in Calgary (15 hired from 500 applicants, him included)
2) The place where he lives now (more rooms, accesible rent, undergroud garage and provided supernaturally by Andrea's sister friend)
3) God brought wonderful neighbors that have treat them as their own children and friends and with whom both have started to share the gospel
4) They visited a hispanic church and the Pastor announced that Sunday that English classes were starting and they needed more volunteers. Funny: Shawn served at his previous church as an English teacher, coincidence? They don't think so!
Their preferred phrase is "God is good all the time, and all the time God is good!"
Their goal is to have a kingdom marriage and family for His glory, and to help each other become more like Christ. They want God to use them however He pleases and wherever He wants.
Today, with great joy and all praise, honor, and thanksgiving to their Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they invite you to be a part of what God has done, what He is doing, and what He will yet do!
