✈️ Getting to Cartagena

Welcome to the Caribbean coast of Colombia! Whether you’re flying in from near or far, here’s everything you need to know about arriving in Cartagena.

🛬 Airport Information

Rafael Núñez International Airport (CTG) is Cartagena’s main airport, located just 15–20 minutes from the Old Town and most major hotels.

It’s a small and manageable airport with flights from Bogotá, Medellín, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, New York, Panama City, and other hubs.

Taxis and ride-hailing apps like Uber and InDriver are available right outside the terminal.

🧭 Tip: Keep some Colombian pesos (COP) on hand for your ride or small purchases at the airport. There are ATMs and currency exchange booths available.

🚗 Getting to Your Hotel

Taxi: Fixed-rate taxis are available at the airport—just ask for a fare slip from the stand before getting in. Rides to the Walled City usually cost around $20,000–$30,000 COP ($5–$8 USD).

Ride Apps: Uber works well in Cartagena, though technically it operates in a legal gray area. Drivers may ask you to sit in the front seat to avoid attention.

Private Transfer: Some hotels offer shuttle services or private airport transfers. Let us know if you need help booking one!

📦 Arrival Tips

Immigration: If you're flying in internationally, have your passport and entry form ready. U.S. citizens don't need a visa for stays under 90 days.

Language: Most airport staff speak some English, but having a few Spanish words ready can help!

Connectivity: SIM cards are available at the airport or local shops for data/phone use. Wi-Fi is available in most cafes and hotels.
