A Bacaro is a typical ''tapas'' bar from Venice. Here you will find wine by the glass and spritz plus a lot of ''cicchetti'' finger food. Most typical cicchetti are baccala (codfish mousse), meatballs, egg with anchovies, fried mozzarella.

OUR TOURIST TIPS

There's a lot to see in Venice and it's hard to go wrong.

Here a few ''local tips'' for your days in Venice:

- San Giorgio island and church tower (beautiful view on the city)

- St Mark Square, Basilica and Tower (you can go to the top) and Palazzo Ducale (book in advance - prisons itinerary is quite interesting and you go through ponte dei sospiri )

⁠- Visit the island Murano, Burano, Torcello to experience the lagoon and a great craftmanship heritage. A fish-based lunch in Burano at ''Al Gato nero'' or ''da Romano'' is highly recommended.

⁠- Gondola tours are rather touristic and expensive. For a more local experience, take “traghetto'. This is public gondolas services that bring people from one side of Grand Canal to the other for for few Euros.

Furlanine: Venetian typical flat shoes, that became very trendy in the past year. You can find them everywhere across the city but we recommend trying the shop ''Gondolina shoes''. Here you will find the most comfortable model with a special internal structure, wide variety of styles and top quality . Bussolai: if you know Bea, you have tried them at some point of your life. Typical cookies from Burano island, heavy in butter and very citrusy, they are INCREDIBLE with a coffee at breakfast or with nutella for a snack.

You can buy them everywhere, but ''Carmelina Palmisano '' and ''Panifico Costantini'' in Burano are the freshest and most delicious.

Embroidery: another typical product from Burano island, coming with a unique manual technique that is unparalled in the globe. If you cannot reach Burano, you can buy some nice pieces at a store called ''Fabris'' in the city center.

Glass: Murano island is the capital of glass. The government moved here all the glass workshops to limit the risk of fires spreading through the city. The Venetian glass making technique is impressive to watch and the outcome is proper art. However, be careful as it's easy to be scammed with industrial glass instead of hand-made one.
