Our Wedding

You would think two Arizona natives, studying at the same university, in the same degree program, within the same honors college would meet in class at ASU, wouldn’t you? Nope. This love story doesn’t begin in their home state. It begins across the pond in London. Ashik and Andrea were studying abroad in the summer of 2016. While Ashik was a seasoned traveler, it was Andrea’s first time leaving the country. On the first day there, a group of students were roaming around Kingston - getting a feel for the area. If you know anything about Andrea, you know she is a certified yapper if you get her excited about something. As the students walked around, someone mentioned the board games sitting in the back of the common room. Andrea began chatting about all the board game nights she would have back home with all her friends. A boy asked, “Have you played Catan before?” Her eyes lit up with mischievous delight, “I’ve played a few times!” Baily, one of Andrea’s oldest friends, bumped her shoulder while rolling her eyes, “Don’t play innocent,” She warned. “Drea wins every time. The first rule of playing with her is to never let her trade.” All the students laughed. Andrea began going on and on about her strategy while a boy silently listened, interjecting with a few questions and perplexities when she said something he found outrageous&nbsp;. That was the first conversation Andrea and Ashik shared along the streets of London. They chatted about board games and video games for what felt like minutes but was really the entire walk back to the dorms. The next day class assignments were posted. To Andrea’s annoyance, all her friends were in class B. She sighed and sat down, wondering who she could talk to in class A. While she was a certified yapper, she did tend to be quite shy when outnumbered by people she didn’t know. Everyone in the class rambled on introducing themselves. Many were from large well-known cities like San Deigo, New York, Dallas. Andrea introduced herself, stating she was from a small town called Yuma, Arizona. She went on to say, “Yuma is a farm town. Most people say they don’t know it, but if you’ve driven to San Diego, Mexico or LA, you’ve probably stopped there to get gas and go to McDonalds.” The class laughed and a familiar voice said, “I’m from another small town in Arizona, Lake Havasu City. You come to my town to vacation for a long weekend and then you leave.” Everyone laughed even harder. Andrea smiled as she looked over her shoulder. There she saw the same boy from the day before. How lucky. She did have a friend in the class. When it was time to go back to the states, Andrea assumed he would disappear. After all, he seemed like he had so many adventures to go on back home. But before their bags were packed, Ashik brought up seeing each other again. They agreed to meet up to play Pokémon Go at Tempe Town Lake. The same place that Ashik would propose 7 years later. Since they met 9 years ago, their love story has been filled with laughter, joy and unforgettable moments. They have traveled the world, welcomed two animals into their home, and have built an amazing community of family and friends. Ashik and Andrea are thrilled to begin the next chapter of their lives as husband and wife.&nbsp;

There are countless people in our lives that we appreciate as we reviewed our love story. As we built our bridal party we couldn’t stop laughing at all the memories of dumb jokes, stupid quotes, bad decisions and hills some of us would all die on in the passion of a heated argument. We would like to thank all our friends for providing us with endless love and support throughout the years. Some of you were shoulders to cry on, others would come to our defense, but most importantly, all of you are an endless well of joy and laughter. You all make our lives so vibrant and full - we could never express how much you mean to us. Most are lucky to have one or two good friends in their adult lives. Ashik and I are proud to say we have many. When we approached these special people with the request to be in our bridal party, we had no doubt they would all say yes! And with that, let's meet our wonderful supporting cast!

The Bridal Party 

Baily and I met when we were around 10 years old in elementary school in our hometown Yuma. We have never let each other go. Our love of Disney movies, passion for education, and love for one another have kept us together. Some of my fondest memories was burning our AP world history note cards after the class was done. Because that course work was ridiculous the for highs schoolers. Or the time Baily joined the flag team in marching band so we could spend more time together (and because those girls had no clue how to dance). Or all the magical memories from our family trips to Disneyland. Words cannot describe how much Baily means to me. She has supported me through for the best years life and for some of its hardest moments. With every phase of life, she met me with compassion, love, but firm values to keep me grounded. While I didn’t always know I would get married, I knew that if I did, Baily Alka would always be my Maid of Honor.&nbsp;

Maid of Honor - Baily Alka 

Nisha and I met in 2017 through Ashik – and I stole her immediately (just kidding it’s totally not a competition). The Bhaktas are family friends with the Chauhan’s, so meeting Nisha was natural. The connection between us sparked instantly. We began to meet up to watch horror, Bollywood, and action movies. We would go to the gym together, vacation together and chat on the phone for what felt like minutes but would quickly spiral into hours. Nisha taught me so much about Indian culture, cooking, holidays and language. Every time I talk to Nisha I just never want to stop. Being with her always makes me consider a different perspective on things and she’s always making sure everyone is having a great time. To this day she is one of the only people on this planet who can make me take a tequila shot. If you have spent any time with Nisha Bhakta, you know she is hilarious, fun loving, down to earth and immensely supportive. I am more than honored to have Nisha as one of my maids of honor.

Maid of Honor - Nisha Bhakta

I met Marena, my senior year of college back in 2017. I could describe Marena for hours, but if I must be quick, she is welcoming, kind, intelligent and fun-loving. Spending time with Marena is always so seamless. Want to see a play? Booked. Want to go on the river? See you Saturday bright and early. Want to meet for dinner? See you in Scottsdale at 6PM! She loves having fun, making memories and finding the strangest YouTube videos (which her and Amit have a strange tendency to do). My fondest memory with Marena was the two of us finishing a video game called “King’s Quest”. Together we made heart breaking decisions, solved ridiculous mysteries and never hurt a single animal! I adore this lovely woman to the moon and back, and I cannot wait for her to stand by my side while Ashik and I tie the knot.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Briadesmaid - Marena Sampson 

Jaidyn is the little sister I always wanted. As the youngest of 5 girls, I always wanted my own little sister too. Jaidyn delivered that wish and so much more. Jaidyn is beautiful, intelligent, fiery and is one of the most empathic spirits I’ve ever met. The first time I met Jaidyn was shortly after I met Ashik. She was a young girl about to start high school. Now, I have watched her complete her master’s in engineering! I’ve watched her complete a half marathon! Jaidyn bloomed into such a magnificent young lady. I love hearing her voice every time she gives us a call. I love hearing her scheme to get out of trouble. I still can’t believe I had the joy of watching her graduate high school, to walk for her diploma in colleges. I am so immensely proud of her. Nothing makes my heart warmer than watching Jaidyn grow up and watching all the things she has and will accomplish.

Oh, my favorite book worm, Ariane McDonald! Ariane, Tatiana and I met during our sophomore year at ASU. We were all supply chain majors and got put in a random group for a project. That project was seamless. The communication was impeccable. This was the least stressful project I had ever worked on in my college career. And most importantly, we got an A. After we all thought “lets take all of our classes together until we graduate!” And we did! I vividly remember spending more and more time with her just to pick her brain, make her laugh and absorb her ambitious nature like a sponge. To this day, when I am having a hard time at work I think to myself "Ari wouldn't tolerate that, so I shouldn't either." Ari inspires me to always be the best version of myself everyday. Fast forward present day, we now have a book club (in which Ari gave us the most HORRENDOUS book I have read since 1984, but mind you I loved it, haha!), finds the most fun board games to play and is just an overall joy in my life. I am so happy we were picked to be in the same group that year. I had no idea that God had such a special friend in store for me. Now we get to pursue the next phase of life together. There was never any doubt Ari would be my bridesmaid.&nbsp;

Bridesmaid - Ariane McDonald 

This free-spirited beauty is Tatiana Reid. As mentioned above, I met Tati while studying at ASU. The first time we were alone is when we were waiting for the rest of our group to meet up with us to discuss the project. We didn’t know each other very well yet, but she made a dark joke that sent her to the ground in laughter. She has been making me laugh ever since. Every time I see her, I feel like my spirit is full again. She always keeps that spark of joy in my life because her friendship is one of my greatest sources of happiness. There is nothing I enjoy more than going to Tati’s house, ranting about whatever first world problem I have, sitting down on the couch with a cup of tea and writing with her until the moon shines in the window. I don't know what I could have possibly done to be blessed with such a wonderful soul like her in my life. But I have been thankful for our friendship ever since we first met.

Bridesmaid - Tatiana Reid 

Fate brought Gina and I together in the strangest of ways. We met in high school during a program called girl’s state one summer. We both bonded over history, Japanese and Greek culture respectively, and law in general. We wouldn’t meet again until college, but we have been friends ever since. I adore reading a news article about a court case I am following, calling her up and asking for her legal opinion as a lawyer but also a disgruntled citizen who needs to rant. I always feel so open to talk to Gina about anything. One of my fondest memories with Gina is our philosophical debate about “power corrupting”. We didn’t agree, but 4 years later I brought up the same conversation and updated my stance. Not only did she remember the debate and my opinion about it years ago, she understood how I arrived at my logical conclusion and we further discussed the topic. Gina is just so much fun and I cannot wait to have her in my bridal party!&nbsp;

Bridesmaid - Gina Gurtler

This man is my brother. I met Brandon through Alayna while they were studying at the University of Arizona. Brandon is one of the most confident, hilarious and laid-back people I have ever met. Our love of playing crafting games, our sad addiction to League of Legends and our countless trips to Korean BBQ when he’s in town are some of the fun I have every single year. Brandon is always ready to listen to my rants, make some jokes, sympathize with me and then kill some bad guys in a videogame. My biggest complaint about Brandon is that he is serving our country, which means I can’t see him as often as we would like. One of my greatest sorrows in 2024 was when Brandon was in town, and I was already going out of town that same weekend. In that moment I realized how precious I treat the time I get to spend with Brandon. He is one of my dearest friends and I am so thankful we get to keep living life together. 私の弟が大好~

The Groomsmen 

If you know me there is a good chance you also know my brother, Amit. If you haven’t had the chance to meet him, I assure you that you are missing out. Amit is genuinely one of the best people I have ever met in my life, although I would never say it to his face (can’t let his ego get too big). His bright personality and unending kindness has been such a source of strength in my life that I have relied on throughout my life.&nbsp;I honestly do not know how I could have become the person I am today without him by my side. He has been my biggest supporter and constantly offers his help whenever I am in trouble. Calling him my brother is one of the greatest privileges that I have and I could not be happier to have him by our side for the next step in mine and Andreas journey together.&nbsp;

Best Man - Amit

Michael Wrona bears the unfortunate burden of being my very first true friend. Michael and I have known each other for over 20 years, and over those 20 years have built a friendship that will last a lifetime. Now while this sounds very touching, I will be the first to tell you that Michael is the most real life representation of a cartoon character that exists on this planet. I always struggle to explain to new people the kind of person Michael is and it is exceptionally difficult to not make it sound like I am making him up on the spot. However, there is one thing that I can say very confidently: Michael is a man who goes out of his way to make sure everyone is happy and having a good time. He is an extremely genuine person with little to no malice in his heart. It has been an absolute blast growing up together with this man and I look forward to seeing what antics we get into next.&nbsp;

Best Man - Michael Wrona 

Growing up in a rural American town in the middle of a desert, you would think that finding another Indian family with kids my age would be close to impossible. But like life, Indians somehow manage to find a way. Our parents were quick to get Amit, Jahnnan, and I to start spending time together and I am happy they did. It is very rare to meet someone who shares all the same interests as you through every phase in life. From the first moment I met him to today, I have been blessed with a friend who I can always talk to about things I am interested in because they enjoy all the same things. He simultaneously is the man who knows exactly what to say to get me to calm down; and the man who will excitedly say things to me that he knows will set me off on an hour-long tangent. While he hasn’t always been the best of influences, ** cough, cough, introducing me to League of Legends, cough, cough,** I am truly blessed to have someone like him in my life.&nbsp;

Groomsmen - Jahnnan Patel 

&nbsp;I would say Austin is the first good friend I made that wasn’t a family friend or related to me. I met Austin when we were in middle school as he was one of Michael's friends. While I wouldn’t exactly call our first few interactions normal, I pretty quickly figured out that Austin would be a friend for life. Throughout High School and College, Jahnnan, Austin, and I were quite inseparable. Even when Austin was being stationed across the world, we made sure to always keep talking to each other. When I describe Austin to new people, I am quick to say that he is a man that has gained my absolute respect. As an individual who strives to make the lives of those around him easier, he holds himself to an incredibly high standard. While he may not believe he hits those high standards, I can proudly say that he not only hits his expectations, but exceeds them. He is a friend that I know that no matter where we end up going, we will always make sure to stay in touch.&nbsp;

Groomsmen - Austin Schafer 

I met Robert as a Freshman in highschool. I will be honest when I say that after our first interaction, I thought this guy would never want to be friends with me. Not because of anything he did, but because I was the one bothering him. As time went on, he actually got more used to Michael and I’s belligerent behavior. Now I don’t remember if it was a role we forced upon him, or a role he willingly took upon himself, but Robert quickly became the one to keep us grounded. He was always the one to make sure that Michael and I never got too carried away and will still, to this day, keep us on the right path. Robert is a man who constantly keeps me in check and I am grateful everyday for his support. I hold Robert in the highest regard as someone I know I can rely on. If there is ever a task that I am not smart enough to figure out, I know I can always rely on Robert to bail me out. While I have never been able to beat Robert at anything we do together, I will constantly strive to get to his level.&nbsp;

Groomsman - Robert Fotino

I actually met Dixit back when I was in highschool through Amit. Back when we would visit Amit when he was in college as a family, he would take me out to go hang out with some of the friends that he made. Like many of Amit's friends, they treated me exceptionally kindly and were always excited to have me spend some time with them. When I finally went to ASU, I was determined to try and find a good group of friends like my brother did. It seems Amit’s friends had different ideas because from the minute I started staying in the dorms, they made sure to bring me along to every one of their events. Dixit is one of the friends that would always go out of his way for me. Throughout my entire college career, the two people I could always get help from were Amit and Dixit. Eventually, Amit left Phoenix to go pursue other options and I thought I had lost my support system. However, Dixit never stopped checking up on me and making sure I was okay. While we may not hang out as often as we should, it is nice knowing that I have another big brother looking out for me.&nbsp;

Groomsman - Dixit Patel

Back in 2018, I got a job working as a planner at Honeywell Aerospace. It was my first full time position and to say I was nervous was an understatement. I always wanted to make sure I didn’t mess anything up so I would constantly ask questions about things that would pop up. Whenever I would ask a question that truely stumped people, they would also give me the same response, “Go ask Jackson.” If something ever went wrong in the facility, people would come into our area and immediately ask us where Jackson was. I quickly found out why so many people relied on Jackson, and that is because he is probably the best person I have found at solving problems. I can confidently say that Jackson taught me most of what I know about working in our industry and the right way to go about solving problems in that industry. From navigating systems to just basic construction, he has taught me almost all of it. All these years later, and I am still relying on him to help with my home improvement projects. He has gone out of his way to help me in both my professional and personal life, and I am grateful that he has managed to put up with me for this long.

Groomsman - Jackson Geiger

Natanael I met just before Jackson, as he is the person who interviewed me for my role at Honeywell. He was also the person who was instructed to be my caretaker at Honeywell. He became my main point of contact for learning the ropes of this new role and Honeywell’s work culture. One thing that separated me from my peers was that I had a different schedule from them. They all worked a normal M-F schedule, I worked T-S. Unfortunately for Natanael, because of this babysitting role he was given, he also had to support me on my Saturday shifts (a day he normally has off). As I was new in the industry and was truly scared of messing everything up, whenever a big problem came up, I called him to help. Over the course of a year he had to deal with my calls on his days off. Not only did he pick up the phone every time, he never complained about having to help me. A trait that had now blended over to our friendship, Nate always responds and never complains when I give him a call. The best way I can describe Natanael to people is that he is the closest thing to Peter from Deadpool and Wolverine. He is without a doubt, a legend in every universe.&nbsp;
