I never expected to find the love of my life on my first day of work at college. But that’s exactly what happened when I met Ximena, the beautiful and smart woman who was assigned to train me. She was so focused on her phone that she barely noticed me. I tried to say hello, but she just nodded and gave me instructions to set up my work account. I thought she was the most indifferent person I had ever met. As we worked together, we discovered that we had a lot in common. Being both from Colombia, we gave us tons to talk about as we shared similar upbringings, we found a home away from home. We&nbsp;had the same sense of humor and a sense of adventure. We became friends, and then more than friends. We fell in love. Our love was not without challenges. We had to deal with long distance drives, as we went to different colleges. We had our fare share of goodbyes but even a greater fare of hellos. We had to deal with life changes, as we graduated, got jobs, and had kids. But we never gave up on each other. We supported, encouraged, and inspired each other. We grew stronger, wiser, and happier together. Now, after all these years, we are ready to take the next step in our relationship. We are ready to say “I do” and become husband and wife. We are ready to start a new chapter in our story. A story that began with a simple hello, and that will continue with a heartfelt vow. A story that I am forever grateful for, and that I can’t wait to share with you. A story that is ours, and ours alone.
