✈️ Travel Information We’re so excited to celebrate our special day with you in Quito, Ecuador! We know it’s a big trip, especially for our amazing friends and family coming from the U.S. (Missouri), Europe, Central and South America, so we’ve put together some travel tips to make planning a little easier. 🛫 Flying to Quito The main airport in Quito is: Mariscal Sucre International Airport (UIO) Located about 45 minutes from the city center. There are no direct flights from St. Louis to Quito, but many major airlines offer 1-stop options, including:   American Airlines (via Miami or Dallas)   Delta (via Atlanta)   United (via Houston)   Copa Airlines (via Panama City)     💡 Tip: Search early for the best deals. Google Flights, Skyscanner, and Kayak are great tools to compare options.   🛂 Entry Requirements   U.S. citizens do not need a visa to visit Ecuador for stays of up to 90 days.   Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond your travel dates.   No specific vaccinations are required, but you may want to check with your doctor about general travel health.   🚖 Transportation from the Airport From the Airport:   Quito's international airport (UIO) is about 45–60 minutes from the city center.   We recommend using authorized airport taxis or pre-booking a private shuttle or Uber.   Taxi fare to the city is approximately $25–$35 USD.   Uber is available and often cheaper.   Getting Around the City:   Uber and taxis are widely available, safe, and affordable.   Many places are walkable depending on where you're staying, especially in areas like La Floresta, Mariscal, and Centro Histórico.   🌍 Travel Tips   Ecuador uses the U.S. dollar, so there's no need to exchange currency!   Altitude: Quito sits at over 9,000 ft above sea level. Take it easy the first day, stay hydrated, and don’t be surprised if you feel a little short of breath.   The weather is mild year-round—think spring-like temperatures during the day and cooler evenings.   ⛰️ About Quito Quito is a beautiful city nestled in the Andes at 9,350 ft (so yes—it’s high up!). It’s known for its stunning colonial architecture, mountain views, and rich culture. 💡 Altitude Tip: Drink lots of water and take it easy the first day to adjust to the elevation.   📅 When to Arrive We recommend arriving at least 2 - 3 days before the wedding to give yourself time to relax and acclimate. Plus, there’s so much to see and do!

A UNESCO World Heritage Site filled with colonial plazas, cobblestone streets, and stunning churches. Don't miss Plaza Grande, La Compañía de Jesús, and the Basílica del Voto Nacional. Tip: Wear comfy shoes and bring a light jacket - the weather can change quickly.

El Panecillo & the Virgin of Quito

Take in panoramic views of the city from this iconic hill topped with the Virgin of Quito statue. Tip: Visit in the morning for clear skies, and take a taxi or tour for safety.

La Ronda Street

A romantic colonial street that comes alive at night with live music, street food, and local crafts. Tip: Try a canelazo (warm spiced drink) and empanadas de viento from the street vendors.

TelefériQo Cable Car

Glide up the slopes of Pichincha Volcano for breathtaking views of Quito and the Andes. Great for photos and light hiking. Tip: Go early to avoid clouds and drink plenty of water — it's high altitude!

Mitad del Mundo (Middle of the World)

Stand on the equator line! Visit the monument and nearby Intiñan Museum for fun, hands-on exhibits. Tip: Bring sunscreen — it's right on the equator, and the sun is strong even when it's cool.

Mindo- The Cloud Forest

Mindo is a lush, biodiverse cloud forest town nestled in the Andean foothills of Ecuador, about two hours northwest of Quito. Known for its rich birdlife, waterfalls, and adventure activities like ziplining and tubing, Mindo is a perfect nature escape from the capital. The easiest way to get there is by hiring a private car for more flexibility.

Termas de Papallacta

Termas de Papallacta is a beautiful hot springs resort nestled high in the Andes, just a couple of hours from Quito. It’s the perfect place to relax before or after the wedding, with natural thermal pools, mountain views, and a full-service spa.
