In November 2021, Andrew liked a photo of Maddie and Harry the beagle on a dating app called Hinge. The two started chatting, and shortly thereafter, Andrew knew he wanted to take Maddie on a date.


Unfortunately for Andrew, Maddie was heading into law school final exams, and couldnt tear herself away from her studies. For the next few weeks, Andrew and Maddie exchanged messages, and Andrew sent Maddie daily encouragement to take on her tests. At this point, Maddie knew she wanted to get to know Andrew better.


Once the exams were through, Andrew asked Maddie on a date at the Middletown Starbucks on December 23, 2021. There was an immediate connection--the two found themselves lost in conversation until they discovered their coffees were empty. Not wanting the date to end, they migrated to the Green Turtle next door, where they shared their first dinner together. As they parted ways that evening, they knew this might be the start of something special.


The next day was Christmas Eve. That evening, Andrew got some bad news... he had Covid! Thinking this was the end, he reached out to Maddie to let her know. While Maddie had to cancel her Christmas plans in light of the news, Andrew had nothing to fear. In fact, his pandemic isolation period presented the two with a unique opportunity to bond over long video chat sessions, an asynchronous movie date, and many games of online Clue!


By the time the two went out on their second date, the foundation for a loving relationship had been laid. Shortly thereafter, Andrew asked Maddie to be his girlfriend. The rest was history.


Over the next year and a half, Andrew and Maddie went on countless adventures together and fell in love along the way. On November 25, 2023, as the couple decorated their very first Christmas tree together, Andrew discovered a shimmering diamond ring among the branches. He got down on one knee and, with Harry’s blessing, asked Maddie to marry him. She said YES!
