Our Wedding

Andrew and Hannah met over 6000 miles away from where they will now be calling home. Their relationship has spanned 7 ½ years, over 2 continents, and 5 states. Long distance was a constant for them starting after they had been together for less than 6 months. However, all the hours of facetiming and flights to see each other will all be worth it on August 10th when they get to promise to be together forever.&nbsp;

How They Met

In the meantime, it’s important to start at the beginning. Our story begins in 2015. Andrew at the age of 11 had just moved overseas with his family as his dad became the lead pastor at the international church Hannah attended. Hannah had just returned from her one year back in the US. Hannah had heard about the new American family that had joined her church and was hopeful that Andrew would be in her class so that she could hang out with him. She was soon greatly disappointed when she found out he was in her sister’s class instead. Their families ended up having dinner together along with another American family and it was there that Hannah and Andrew met for the first time. While there was that normal awkward tension that comes from meeting new people, the families seemed to bond from that dinner. 	From that point on they would hang out at the Youth Group that Andrew’s parents had started. Andrew and Hannah became fast rivals as they competed in constant battles from foosball to FIFA. The competition was evident as both never wanted to lose, especially to one another. There seemed to be a growing hatred or so Andrew thought. However, this hatred was actually Hannah attempting to mask her growing crush on this new American boy. Having two totally different childhoods: Hannah growing up in Thailand and the country of Georgia, only rarely visiting America for a year at a time; Andrew growing up as the American boy playing baseball and basketball, much to his heart's content. Yet despite this, soon after they met a friendship and a bond began to grow as their friend groups in and out of school merged together. Andrew, of course not really knowing what he was feeling, always was trying to get the wildest reaction out of Hannah, doing anything he could to annoy or irritate her. And Hannah, doing her best to act annoyed when truthfully she loved the interactions more each time.

How It Began

Fast forward two years of casual friendship, they began to grow much closer. They began to talk late into the night, often staying awake talking about anything coming to mind until 3 or even 4 in the morning. Yet as awkward teenagers trying to figure out how they felt, they rarely talked at school, perhaps afraid to let everyone see what they were experiencing. As the school year went on, they continued to get closer, telling each other things they had never told anyone else. One day, while Hannah was in rehearsal for Seussical Jr. she got a text from Andrew declaring his true feelings. They were both overwhelmed and didn’t know how to move forward. Hannah tried to keep things the way they were for fear of losing her best friend, but it was hard to fight what they both knew was coming. On December 15th, 2017 a group from their youth group had decided to go see Star Wars the Last Jedi and it was there that everything changed. Andrew did everything in his power to sit next to Hannah and when the movie started they sat there awkwardly. Hannah kept moving her hand and was panicked because she wanted to hold his hand but didn’t want to make the first move. However, five minutes into the movie Andrew reached over the armrest, took Hannah’s hand and said, “Hannah, I love you.” They were instantly filled with butterflies and didn’t stop holding hands for the remainder of the two hour movie. That night they couldn’t help falling asleep with smiles on their faces and so began their relationship.&nbsp;

How It's Going

From the very beginning, their relationship was met with challenges. It was difficult to be so young and yet feel such deep and powerful emotions. They both sensed they were meant to be together, but at their age, it was hard for others to take them seriously.Just six months into their relationship, Hannah had to move back to the United States, and suddenly, they were thousands of miles apart. The pain of that first goodbye was unforgettable. But so was the love that carried them through it. That year apart deepened their connection and made their reunion all the more sweeter.&nbsp;But just as they found their way back to each other, the world shut down. A global pandemic turned everything upside down, and Andrew’s family made the decision to move back to the States. Though they had become pros at FaceTime dates, this second season of long distance was even harder. They were older now, with more to lose. Hannah was beginning to decide where to go to college and their futures felt even more uncertain. It was during this time that Hannah made the difficult decision for them to go their separate ways and see what life held for them apart.But God had other plans.After eight months filled with prayer and growth, they found their way back to one another. It was beautiful to see how both had changed and how God had been at work in their lives during their time apart. That season, though painful, proved to be necessary and it made their relationship even stronger.In December of 2021, they saw each other again for the first time in a year and a half. From that point on, they refused to let distance define them. Through long road trips, late-night calls, and flights to new places they continued to prioritize each other, because they knew distance was nothing compared to a life without each other. Over these last three years, they’ve rediscovered who they are as a couple and introduced each other to the people and places that have shaped them.&nbsp;Along with learning each other's pasts, they also began planning their future together. Then in December of 2024, Hannah and Andrew went to New York City with a couple of Hannah's friends (lunch bunch). They were there to see one of Hannah's favorite musicals but also for Andrew to ask her an important question. On December 15th, 2024 almost exactly 7 years to the minute to when Andrew first told Hannah he loves her, he asked her to marry him. What started as two teenagers falling in love in a faraway country has grown into something much deeper. Soon, they will be husband and wife, and no distance will ever stand in their way again.

What date should I RSVP by?Please feel free to RSVP whenever you'd like to. But we need an answer by July 10th so we can communicate with all our vendors. Thanks! What is the dress code for your wedding?Preferably semi formal attire. We ultimately prefer for people to feel comfortable. And of course please avoid wearing white!
