In the final moments of our Theories of Personality class over the summer, I knew I had to send her a message. I had noticed her in our Zoom class. She had a beautiful presence that caught my eye. Despite feeling anxious, fate had its own plans when we bumped into each other at the gym. She waved a simple gesture that broke the ice and nudged me to reach out as our class was wrapping up. I messaged her for her number, taking the last chance to connect before it was too late.

When we met after I returned from a conference at the American Psychological Association, everything clicked. We talked for hours, easily skipping the movies we had planned to watch. I could be myself with her—silly, open, and sharing parts of my life I usually kept to myself. It was effortless and genuine, a connection that felt right from the start.

Andrew effortlessly fulfilled my dreams without me needing to ask; he seemed to intuitively understand the longings I'd harbored for years. Despite not initially grasping the depth of importance I attach to family, he readily and wholeheartedly embraced me into his own. Before Thanksgiving of 2022, while everyone else was heading home to celebrate with their families, I found myself feeling isolated. But despite our limited familiarity, Andrew welcomed me into his aunt's house and later his mother's house for Thanksgiving dinner. This gesture consistently continued throughout every holiday and dinner over the past two years; he's never left me behind.

Andrew may never fully comprehend how profoundly life-changing his presence has been for me, but it has completely transformed my understanding of what companionship and loyalty should look like. He's shared his truths, and I've entrusted him with mine; a connection between two perfect strangers, from opposite sides of the world but he is now my best person and one of my many million little miracles.
