Our Story, From Andrew Jones' Perspective

Why I want to marry Cinnamon Clausen (soon-to-be Cinnamon Jones!) I guess I met Cinnamon at Bryan and Lexi’s wedding on August 11th, 2024 (we knew each other before that, but can’t recall exactly when, or where). I remember going over to her during the reception to see if she was cute (she was) and worth getting to know further. I decided I wasn’t very interested at the time (which she refutes, since I apparently followed her around the dance floor and remembered the exact outfit she wore 8 months later – the first of these is up for debate but the second is true). Over the course of our fourth year of college, I saw her around from time to time and saw her heart for ministry. For some reason, in March, despite not having many feelings for her up to that point (this point is debated), I reached out to help her with her video project for film studies class. I thought it would be a good excuse to text her for the first time, since the Lord had stirred up my heart to start desiring her. That day in March (maybe March 6th) I started to catch feelings pretty hard after seeing her desire to witness and share the gospel in all her actions. There, and at her birthday party, I continued to see who this girl was. I had mentioned to Cole Barton the week before asking her out that “I don’t have a good reason not to ask her out, but I don’t really have a good reason to, either.” Over that month of April, our ministry started to overlap as we were pouring into the same freshmen students. One night, we took several of those guys out and ministered to them, and I decided I would be a fool not to ask her out. I saw that Cinnamon “would be useful to me for ministry” (as in someone who would bolster my ministry, since I have no intention of using her and especially not abusing her). Suddenly, I had a reason to ask her out, since ministry had been my foremost intention in all I did. I am so glad that I asked her out, and that the Lord stirred up her heart to say yes. She has not ceased to be such a wonderful and bright joy in my life. She has indeed been useful to me for ministry by constantly stirring up my heart for joy in the Lord – indeed I think her joy in the Lord is much greater than mine. She has such confidence and love in the gospel, and makes it her ceaseless goal to make the name of Jesus known in every corner of the earth. She reminds me of that critical goal when I lack it myself. She is extraordinarily beautiful internally and externally, with that internal beauty being what draws me to Christ (I’m attracted to Christ in her, and he is abundantly present in her heart!) since internal beauty is what endures and brings fruit in this life. I have bee astonished at how much greater her heart for the Lord is that I initially realized. She has not failed to be utterly amazing. I love how she steers me toward Christ and corrects me with love and grace and gentleness. She has already been so useful to me for sanctification as I learn to lay down my life daily, for her, and to take up my cross daily as a follower of Jesus. The only hope in this life is for the one to come – but by God’s grace we get to start experiencing that life in this one, and by God’s grace, Cinnamon has caused me to see that all the more and to start walking in it. Thanks be to God for the beautiful gift he has given me in Cinnamon (Proverbs 12:4, 18:22, 31:29).
