We met while working in a small concession box at the historic Fargo Theatre where we ate copious amounts of popcorn, listened to Lance tune the Wurlitzer organ on Sunday mornings, froze our fingers changing the marquee letters in winter, and watched movies with our theatre friends after hours.

After graduating from college, we moved to a 400-something-square-foot ramshackle apartment in downtown Fargo. Here, we read books, spun records, played Bananagrams, learned how to cook together, and adopted our cat, Nike.

Six months later, we moved to Spokane, Washington, where Micaela attended grad school. During our two and a half years in Washington, we discovered our love for hiking and spent most of our time driving across the state in search of adventure. We also adopted our cat Juniper here in January 2020.

Micaela graduated with her MFA in poetry in the midst of the pandemic. We spent a few strange months mostly jobless and on beautiful hiking trails in Washington, Idaho, and Montana. After a magical final camping trip in Coeur d'Alene National Forest, we moved back to Fargo to start our careers and be closer to our families.

On a trip to Minneapolis for our six-year anniversary, Andy proposed on the Stone Arch Bridge in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We celebrated by seeing one of our favorite artists, Alex G, at First Avenue and eating the best pasta of our lives at Bar La Grassa, which was recommended by our foodie friends Tyler and Kerianne.
