Our Wedding

Our story begins November 8, 2017 outside Vignetos Italian Grill in Plantation, FL. You could call it a blind date of sorts. It was a connection made on ‘Tinder’ — all the rage in 2017.&nbsp; Matthew, prompt as always, was standing outside the restaurant waiting as Andrew intentionally drove past the exit, hoping Matthew would be seated by the time he arrived. Minutes later, just imagine the awkward walk across the parking lot, the nervous smiles and firm handshake. Once seated, none of that mattered. It was effortless from there. Andrew immediately called his sister that night. Matthew prayed on his drive home that this was only the beginning — and those prayers were answered.&nbsp;&nbsp; The next few years were like a study abroad program for these two. The bearded white boy and the Cuban from Miami had a lot to learn from each other.&nbsp; There were the little things, like how to properly clean base boards or which movie classics you HAD to watch. Then there were the cultural things, like the beauty of casseroles, what soy bean crops look like, or&nbsp;&nbsp;how to have 4 conversations at once in different languages.&nbsp;(Fun fact: Matthew now makes a mean ‘Ropa Vieja’ too.) The most important exchange however, was an emotional one. Together, they learned to build a life they love, making big memories out of little moments — each one secretly thinking they got the better deal.&nbsp;

Our Story

Maggie Mickler is Matthew’s older sister, Foster’s
mom and a sommelier in her own right. She’s the one that keeps the train moving, even when it’s missing wheels and rails.

Elizabeth Puerto is Andrew’s younger sister and they are the closest you get to twins without actually being twins. She’s the spoon you need to stir the pot and if you need to find her at the wedding, check the dance floor.

You might catch Foster James cruising down the aisle in a custom-made tractor with a pocket full of cookies. Let’s face it, this kid’s got style! FJ is Matthew’s nephew, Gigi’s partner in crime and Andrew’s forever builder buddy. We’re warning you now — hide your wives 😎

Vincent Puerto is Andrew’s Godson/nephew, an award-winning big brother to Emilia and lover of all things Sharks.  His laugh may melt your heart but to Vince, this ring security business is no laughing matter. Watch him bust a move on the dance floor, like his momma!

No, a model was not hired for the role of flower girl. This is Emilia — Andrew’s niece, Matthew’s forever play date and giver of the best hugs. 
Emilia says she is excited to be on ‘petal patrol’.
We expect a slow walk down the aisle as she stops to smile at each guest.

Will “Hey Girl” Mickler is Matthew’s sassy brother-in-law, Foster’s Dad and self-proclaimed ‘King of the Grill.’ Matthew for one is VERY curious to see what he’s got on the dance floor. 🕺🏻

Will Ingram is Matthew’s older brother and the second favorite Ingram son, uncle and nephew — but don’t tell him that. If you hear someone shouting “Hey, best friend!” Or “What’s up, big dog?” … it’s him.

Julie is Matthew’s best friend, former roommate and Andrew’s sister-wife. Lover of dogs and all things Hallmark, give Julie some red sangria and watch her go!

If you hear anyone making fun of Matthew on his wedding day, odds are it’s coming from this guy. Dustin Cunningham is one those friends who never misses a moment to keep someone humble. He’s a primo mechanic and a Cuban coffee lover but his best quality is being Priya’s husband and Zara’s Dad.

Priya “Preenut” Cunningham is who Matthew secretly aspires to be on a daily basis. You need advice? Go to Priya. Need a recipe? Hit her up. If you see a group of people doing Yoga on the hotel lawn wedding weekend — Priya is leading it.

Miguel Puerto is Andrew’s brother-in-law, Vince and Emilia’s Dad and the guy known for keeping the crazy in check. Everything Matt and Andrew know about craft Beer and Star Wars, they learned from Miguel. Andrew will always have Key West and Matt will always have New Years Eve — let’s leave it at that. 🤫

Janet Capote is Andrew’s cousin, CCF ‘Chuchi’ and a bit of a happy crier. She’s always down for some Selena carpool karaoke. Some fun facts: Andrew was her chubby Quinceañera partner and also once DJ’d her birthday party with his book of burned CDs 😜

Jay Jonker is Andrew’s Brother-in-law, Ava and Dylan’s Dad and (like Matthew) a fellow family gringo. He’s an over-accommodating master of the grill and Andrew is officially looking to challenge him to shotgun a beer at the bar.

Melissa Jonker may not look it, but she is Andrew’s older sister. This momma of 2 is known as one of the most selfless people you’ll ever meet and come wedding day she’s bringing ‘Big Apple’ energy to The Perry Lane. (Dylan and Ava … dance-off! Start practicing!)

Joanna is technically Andrew’s cousin but has always been the Perez children’s unofficial little sister. They still see her - and always will - as a 9-year old bookworm. However, this Doctor can seriously party. Just don’t be surprised if she brings her dogs, while Ryan arrives with a pitcher of Margs for his table.

Feel free to book your stay there or explore other options listed below! Savannah’s ‘Downtown Historic District’ has many hotels and rental properties within walking distance. We do not have a room block here, however this hotel is a popular and more affordable option for out-of-towners looking to experience Savannah. It is only about a half mile away from the JW Marriott.

The Historic Olde Pink House, located at 23 Abercorn Street in Savannah's Historic District, serves classic Southern cuisine in an elegant mansion built in 1771 ... (There is also a speakeasy-type bar/lounge underneath this upscale restaurant).

There are MANY bike rental shops all around Savannah. This was one of our favorite activities. We walked into a shop, rented a pair of bikes and took off around the city, stopping at pubs and several historic squares along the way.

It’s the “Central Park” of Savannah! This 30-acre park is a great place to walk or ride around. 🚴You can stop for a drink and enjoy local artists. The park is named for Georgia’s 33rd governor. The city’s most famous fountain—installed in 1858 and modeled after the fountains at the Place de la Concorde in Paris—crowns the northern edge of the park, inspiring contemplation and selfies, proposals and weddings. Sometimes the stroll to the fountain is dotted with local artisans working to the sounds of a lively trumpet, and on quieter days it’s just the locals out with their dogs, avid readers nestled deep in their comfy hammocks and art students sketching their surroundings from a nearby bench.Further into the park are two children’s playgrounds—one for littles and another for bigger kids. On the east side is a concert and event space&nbsp;

This is a great little British pub for a night cap right near one of Savannah's Historic Squares. Great place to walk to.

This is a great option for anyone staying in Savannah a little longer. Tybee island is a short, 30-min, scenic drive from historic downtown Savannah.This three-square-mile enclave is packed with hyper-local shopping, dining, bars and bike trails. It’s most notable for its white, sandy beaches, the historic Tybee Light house/Museum and is home to Fort Screven (which is open for tours).We recommend you grab a few cocktails and soak up the Savannah sun - plain and simple.
