Andrew and Kayla met at the beginning of Summer 2014 at Forest Hills Pool in Oxford, NC, where they would both eventually lifeguard together every summer for several years. Kayla was a new guard and Andrew was a returning guard, jokingly referring to himself as the ‘Head Lifeguard.’ On their first day of work together, Andrew taught Kayla how to test the pool chemicals, and the rest is history. A special thanks to Steve Radford for playing Cupid all those years ago!

Throughout their many years of dating, Andrew and Kayla attended 2 proms together, supported each other during high school sports, celebrated college acceptances and graduations, moved each other in and out of college cities, spent many summers on the lake, found the best breakfast spots in every city they traveled to, found a love for grilling together, and so much more!

During their college years, Kayla and Andrew were never less than two hours away from each other, but they did not let this stop them. During undergrad Andrew was in Wilmington and Kayla was in Raleigh. They spent many weekends taking turns traveling to be with each other, whether they were grabbing Ben & Jerry’s ice cream before another Meredith tradition or on the beach eating Islands tacos in Wilmington. Kayla then moved to Charlottesville for graduate school. Andrew visited Kayla many weekends in Charlottesville for hikes, wineries, and a few snow days. After graduate school, Andrew and Kayla were finally both back in Oxford, NC which they both call home. Oxford is a very special place for them- where they began their relationship and plan to start their married life!

Fast forward almost 10 years later, Andrew (finally) asked Kayla to marry him on May 11, 2024 at the Airlie Gardens in Wilmington, NC, one of their favorite spots. Andrew and Kayla cannot thank their families and friends enough for all of their love, advice, and support along the way. The two are excited to start their new chapter together as husband and wife, surrounded by their closest family and friends. Here’s to the rest of their lives together!
