Janine and Andrew first met when Janine's coworker Carol and Andrew's college friend Gina decided to set them up on a date. When they met up at Cocola Bakery in Santana Row, Janine was a bit put off that Andrew had already bought his own drink when she arrived. Maybe it was Andrew's charm, wit, or impressively thinning hairline, but Janine decided to stick it out. After coffee, they strolled along Santana Row and then grabbed dinner at Sino, the first of many dinners together.
Andrew would soon discover what a foodie Janine is. She introduced him to the trendy restaurants and dishes, and Andrew was just fine with that. Although during their third date while Andrew was boxing up leftover sushi, Janine remarked, "Don't put any ginger in, I don't like it", which made Andrew wonder, why did she assume she'd get all the leftovers? :p Nevertheless, they'd continue to explore what the Bay Area had to offer. And then San Diego, and then New York, Dallas, Boston, and DC.
Andrew, for his part, pulled Janine into the wonderful and yet often frustrating world of Stanford football and turned her into a bandwagon Golden State Warriors fan. As they are both Giants fans, Andrew often scouted out tickets for them; club level or bust! He also got Janine caught up on modern movie classics like Braveheart, the Usual Suspects, and the Shawshank Redemption.
After a "romantic" cruise in the Mediterranean with Janine... and her sister... and her father... Andrew set into motion plans to propose. Despite a couple hiccups that included an over-excited mother revealing his plans to propose, Andrew found the right opportunity during their vacation in Maui. A couple nights into the trip, Andrew brought Janine down to the hotel bar to grab some drinks before dinner. As the sun drew low, Andrew wanted to move to the beach. But Janine was still slowly sipping on her drink, and didn't want to part with it just yet. Usually easy going, Andrew became more insistent which tipped off Janine about what was to come. With drink still in tow, they headed down the beach where they found a cozy spot. Just as the sun was setting, Andrew got down on one knee and proposed to which Janine responded with a delighted "Yes!"
