What is considerd Traditional Japanese Clothing?

1. Kimono : Held together by the Obi; Typically worn for special occasions, both traditional and contemporary. 2. Yukata : This is the lightweight, summery version of the Kimono. This is also fastened with an Obi. The unofficial garment for summer occasions. Men's tend to be in more of the grey & navy. 3. Hanten : This is a winter coat jacket, and was typically worn by regular people during the Edo period. This is a throw over style coat-jacket that is padded and tailored for a cozy, but flattering fit. Pairs very well with Business casual attire. 4. Haori : The formal version of the Hanten. This is a medium-length jacket designed to be worn over the kimono. Back in the 1800's, only those that were in the higher social class, while in Sengoku period, men would wear sleeveless variations of the Haori over their armor. Women would flirt by wearing a Haori as a statement style piece. This kimono jacket is hand dyed using the painstaking shibori technique. This involves hand tying up parts of the fabric before it is immersed to create intricate patterns between the dyed section and raw fabric. This was considered the "bad boy's" of Japan attire. 5. Samue : An incredibly simple outfit originally worn by Japanese Zen Buddhist clergy, modernly known as a Samu. Activities that fall under the Samu umbrella would include: 1. Cooking 2. Cleaning 3. Outdoor Labor Samue consists of a simple pair of pants and a simple top. These are typically crafted from linen or cotton. You can typically find them in indigo blue or brown. This design is an excellent representation of the practice of Zen Buddhism. NAGAJUBAN : This is for men only. You place these under your Kimono to keep it clean. This garment is usually made out of white cotton or silk fabric. OBI : This is the sash that keeps the Kimono together. When styled correctly it is an stand out piece of Traditional Japanese wear. The patterns can be chosen to match the material of the kimono, or to provide a sharp contrast. For some outfits, the Kimono becomes a mere canvas for the artistry of the Obi. For women, the Obi's primary function is to decorative, while the actual piece of fabric keeping the garment together is hidden underneath. Are children allowed at the wedding?

Children will be able to attend the ceremony, however they aren't able to attend the reception.

How many people can I bring?

We are only allowing one extra person per person. If you did not RSVP them before Jan. 6th, 2025 they will NOT be able to attend the wedding.

What is an acceptable outfit for the Ceremony?

MEN: a tailored suit, dress shirt, tie, and leather shoes. For more formal occasions, a tuxedo or evening tailcoat may be required. WOMEN: cocktail dresses, evening gowns, or dressy separates paired with elegant shoes. PLEASE do NOT wear white. Not even on your socks. Please comply with the following dress code. Failure to comply will result in you not being able to attend the wedding. You will be turned around or kicked out for not following attire requirements.

Where is Braxton, MS?

It is 30-45 min. from Jackson, MS 3hrs and 17 min leaving from Memphis, TN 3hrs and 9 min leaving from Horn Lake, MS Braxton, MS is located in the middle of Mississippi.

What should I bring?

Anything given to us by our friends and family is truly valued. If you wish to purchase something on your own that doesn't appear on our registry, and are stuck on what would be perfect for us we have created a mixed suggestion list for you to choose from. The selections are broad, so it will be a unique gift coming from you. -Collectors items (such as unique pops or a set of pops, exclusive merch, etc.) - Gift Cards to food places -Cookware (example: rice cooker, pasta maker) - Memorabilia ( canvas of a picture created by your, or a plastered picture of us) If you are unable to give, please understand that we just truly appreciate you coming to our wedding, and the memories that come with it.

I'm getting ready to RSVP... what is one thing I need to input?

We strongly suggest you type in your address! We would love to send you a goodie or two through the mail to send our thanks!

How do I RSVP & When is the Deadline?

At the home page, when you scroll under our picture you can RSVP that way. Another way to RSVP, it by going to the RSVP tab at the top of the screen (if on laptop). We will also send out physical invitations where you can mail it back as an RSVP as well. RSVP's are due by January 6th, 2025

Where is the Ceremony?

We are holding our ceremony at the Magnolia Manor in Braxton, MS. 368 Levi Cooper Rd. Braxton, MS 39044

What time should I arrive to the ceremony?

The ceremony will start promptly at 2 p.m. We ask that guest arrive at least 30 minutes early for a social gathering before the wedding is to start. Please be in your seats by 1:50 p.m. Failure to do so will result in not being able to witness us being married.

What is your wedding theme and Colors?

Our wedding colors are: Currant Red, Rose Gold/Blush Pink, and Champagne. The Ceremony is Japanese inspired and the Reception will be anime themed. Please dress accordingly to the guidelines stated in the previous Q&A.

What will the weather be like?

It will be summertime, since we will be the middle of summer, in the middle of Mississippi IT WILL BE HOT. please dress accordingly or bring the appropriate change of clothes afterwards.

Can I take Photos?

We like to ask that all of our guest refrain from using their phone during the ceremony. Please DO NOT take photos at the ceremony. We will send out copies of the photos taken at the ceremony. You may take photos at the reception as you please, just have fun and dance as well!

Where is the reception?

The reception will also be held at Magnolia Manor. The reception will be inside the venue, as the Ceremony will be outside.

Will you accommodate dietary restrictions?

We will try our best to accommodate all dietary restrictions. Please specify dietary restrictions on your RSVP.

Is the wedding Indoors or Outdoors?

The ceremony will be held outside the Magnolia Manor, and the reception will be held inside the Magnolia Manor venue. Please dress accordingly.

What about Parking?

We will have on-site parking available to all of our guest!

Will food be served?

Yes! We will have traditional Japanese food available! Along with Japanese snacks to ease your hunger before the food is ready!

Have you reserved Hotel Room Blocks?

No, we have not. We are unsure of how many people would wish to book the same hotel even at a discounted rate. If you for us to do a hotel block please comment you would like a pre-booked hotel. Details will be shared later.

Will there be an open bar?

We are planning on an open bar, however please be prepared to tip the bartender ATLEAST $10 at the end of the night if you will be frequently using the bar out of respect.

Will transportation be provided?

We will not be providing transportation to the wedding venue. Please plan accordingly.

Where should I stay?

We provided a list of hotels that we recommend, however there are hotels in Braxton that may also fit inside of your budget.

What is the cocktail hour for?

Since some of our guest may cosplay, or change into traditional Japanese wear we are giving guest an hour after the ceremony to change and return for the reception. If you are cosplaying, PLEASE GO ALL IN. The more creative the better the outcome! However, if you choose traditional Japanese wear you may wear this to the ceremony and enjoy an hour the socialize with others over a drink.

Where should I sit at the ceremoy?

The first row on both sides are reserved for immediate family. Example: Mom, Dad, etc. .

How do I know where to sit at the reception?

The two tables closest the the Bride & Groom table will be for immediate family ONLY. The bridesmaids & groomsmen will sit at the table with the Bride & Groom. Other guest may sit where they please besides that.

When will we eat?

We will sit down and eat directly after cocktail hour.

Do you have a wedding hashtag for social media?

Yes! When posting our wedding on your socials make sure you use the hashtag #meetthemalletts

Where can I find the pictures afterwards?

If you placed your e-mail in the RSVP we will e-mail them to you, if not we will mail a physical copy to our guest!

Accommodations are available for out-of-town guest?

We understand that many of our guests will be traveling from out of town to join us for our special day. If you need help pre planning accommodations please feel free to reach out to the bride Andria at (901) 859-6691

Are children invited to the reception?

Unfortunately, children will not be invited to the reception. We've opted for an adult-only reception to allow everyone to relax and enjoy the celebration. We hope you understand our decision and can arrange childcare for that evening. If you have any concerns or special circumstances, please don't hesitate to contact us directly to discuss further.
