Andy and Allie met their senior year of college. By that point, both of their moms had begun to make not-so-subtle hints about getting serious and finding a nice Bennie/Johnnie. However, both Andy and Allie brushed this off until April of 2021.


Saint Ben's and Saint John's have a tradition of senior-only theme parties in the forty days leading up to graduation. Day five was the Mother/Son and Father/Daughter dance, which Allie's mom saw as a perfect opportunity to scope out the senior Johnnies at the bar. The very first Johnnie Kelly picked out from across the Sal's dance floor was Andy, citing him for having “the best smile”. Allie wasn't convinced and said, “Mom, no!”


Nevertheless, day sixteen (jersey day) rolled around, and Andy and Allie officially met for the first time. Andy made Allie laugh and they immediately hit it off, beginning to talk to each other daily at each party. Andy then asked Allie to go on a real date, a bike ride from Saint Ben's to Saint John's on a sunny April afternoon. What Andy didn't know was that Allie had just learned to ride a bike a few months prior and wasn't very confident--and even less proficient! They set off biking, and Allie successfully made it to Saint John's, where they had a picnic and chatted on the beach of Lake Sagatagan. Soon enough, it was time to begin the trek back to Saint Ben's. Unfortunately, Allie's tentative biking skills came to light when she crashed her bike into a post, popping the front tire of her bike with several miles of the ride left to go! Luckily, in true Andy fashion, he rolled with this, calling his roommate (thank you for picking up the phone, Nathan!!!) to pick them up. Andy even took Allie out for an ice cream cone for her trouble--and the rest is history!


Allie quickly fell in love with Andy for his laidback personality and great sense of humor. Andy fell in love with Allie for being an incredible, passionate cyclist (or not). They spent as much time as possible together in Saint Joe before graduation. Andy and Allie then moved home after graduation, with Allie living and working as a nurse in Saint Cloud and Andy living and working as a financial planner in Saint Paul. This meant three years of talking on the phone, weekends spent together, and Allie putting 40,000 miles on her car :) Andy popped the question on November 12, 2023 and Allie responded with a resounding YES! They are now planning their wedding and settling into their new home in Shoreview.
