Angel and Tanner’s love story began as a quiet spark in 2015 when they met in a college math class. Angel sat behind Tanner, and they’d chat about assignments and lessons. After the semester ended, they went their separate ways—until fate brought them back together in 2019. Both pursuing their Business Information Systems degrees at the University of Nevada, Reno, Angel and Tanner crossed paths again in their second-to-last semester. Neither was looking for love, but life had other plans. On February 5th, a mix-up with a classroom location gave Angel her moment. As Tanner approached, she boldly said, “Class is in the lab today,” igniting the spark that would change their lives. That night, Angel, with a mix of courage and curiosity, found Tanner on Instagram and used the “Ask Me Anything” feature to catch his attention. Tanner’s playful reply—“How’d you find my Instagram?”—nearly sent Angel into a spiral of embarrassment. But she admitted the truth: she remembered him from all those years ago and thought he was cute. Tanner was charmed by her honesty and courage, and their connection deepened from there. What began as friendship—sitting next to each other in class, tackling assignments, and sharing laughs—quickly became something more. By April 26th, Tanner was the first to say, “I love you.” From then on, they were inseparable. After years of hard work—finishing their degrees, navigating careers, and supporting each other through the challenges of a global pandemic—Angel and Tanner decided it was time to treat themselves. At the start of 2023, they planned a lavish vacation to Hawaii, sparing no expense to fully immerse themselves in the beauty and culture of the islands. What Angel didn’t know was that Tanner had been holding onto an engagement ring for months, waiting for the perfect moment to propose. When their vacation started, he carried the ring with him everywhere—through the airport, on every tour, and to every destination. Though the week was marked by Hawaii’s characteristic rain showers, May 13th stood out as a day of clear skies and magic. That day, the couple happened to be spending hours at the Polynesian Cultural Center, marveling at the vibrant traditions and history of the islands. Their final activity was an immersive Tahitian Wedding Ceremony, where they witnessed the beauty of a traditional celebration. The ceremony moved Angel to tears, and Tanner knew—this was the moment. As they wandered the grounds afterward, feeding fish at a serene pond, Tanner’s heart raced. Gathering all his courage, he turned to Angel and said, “Angel, you’re the love of my life. Nothing would make me happier than to spend the rest of it together forever. Will you marry me?”Angel burst into tears of joy, overwhelmed with love, and exclaimed, “Are you serious? Yes, yes, yes!” She pulled Tanner to his feet and kissed him, sealing the moment they’d both cherish forever. The rest of the trip felt like a fairytale as they celebrated their engagement in the tropical paradise of Hawaii. Now, Angel and Tanner are excited to begin the next chapter of their story together, surrounded by the family and friends who’ve supported them every step of the way.
