When Jay Met Ang

We met on June 24th, 2020 for our first date - Ang’s choice, Chick-Fil-A! We talked and walked around Buffalo’s beautiful Outer Harbor and watched the sun go down on a grassy hill by the water as the nerves fluttered away. This exact date soon became an annual tradition, where Jay proposed on the same date & same place exactly three years later on a cloudy humid night!

In between those dates, we learned about each other - through texts, long distance drives to watch the sunset together in the summer, going to the Transit Drive-In during the pandemic (since nothing else was open), falling asleep on FaceTime together (Ang really was the one who would).

We learned our favorite time of year being a crisp WNY fall & also the snowy Christmas season spending time with our families. We immediately bonded over our love of Jesus Christ who became the center of our relationship. Through all the ups & downs, several moves for Ang, job loss, promotions, new jobs, new friends, loss & new life, thousands of miles driven (on all of Jay’s cars, really) & everything in between - our faith is what held us together during it all. We love serving others together. We’ve traveled to the Adirondacks with Jay’s family & North Carolina to see Ang’s family, all the while learning about each other. We traveled to see Maverick City, one of our favorite bands with friends. We love to cook & thrift together. Jay even drove out several times from Rochester to Buffalo, to take care of Neo, Ang’s pug while out of town. Through it all, God’s hand has been prevalent on this time & we’re eager to see what the future holds - together, forever & ever, amen (in the words of Randy Travis)!
