It was May of 2020, a time when everything seemed uncertain—helping friends move into a new house was the perfect distraction. That’s when I first met Andrew, though I didn’t know at the time he would become such a big part of my life.

We were helping Beth and Shane move into their new place, and it was chaos as you’d expect—a lot of boxes, furniture, and the usual stress that comes with the task. I remember the first time I spoke to Andrew. He walked up with an air of confidence, introduced himself as one of Shane’s “best friends,” and I immediately called him out. “You can’t possibly be one of Shane’s best friends,” I said, “I’m with them every day and I’ve never met you.” His response? A laugh, a grin, and a reassurance that he was, indeed, one of the best.

That moment didn’t mean much at the time, but later that day, we ended up in the bedroom together—trying to assemble furniture for the girls. I was feeling overwhelmed by the noise and chaos of moving day, and I just wanted a moment to breathe. In my attempt to manage the situation, I tried to kick everyone out of the room. Everyone except Andrew, that is. He wouldn’t leave. “I’m just here to pick things up and put them down,” he said, “I won’t say a word, I promise.” It was odd, yet oddly comforting to have someone so calmly stay in the midst of the madness.

When the move was finally over, we exchanged social media details, and while I didn’t think much of it at the time, it wasn’t long before we were talking and connecting more. A few weeks later, we went on our first date.

And the rest, as they say, is history. We've been inseparable ever since.
