Our story began in the summer of 2017 when Angela and Jesús were just about done with trying to find their other half. The search for their “fish in the sea” felt like a pirate searching for the elusive treasure!

As a last resort, Jesús accepted to get into a dating app but was not sure it would be different from the other ones he tried to find his life partner in. Angela had received a special invite from her friend, Nicole, who had good luck with it (THANKS NICOLE!). Both of them matched soon after the app launched in Dallas… Was it Jesús’ handsome and nerdy looks that caught Angela’s attention? Or was it Angela’s beautiful smile and wit that lured Jesús in? The world may never know!

… Okay. Truth be told, it was actually the fact that Jesús told Angela that he would do a Chewbacca growl on their first date that had her sold.

Their first date was at Meso Maya in downtown Dallas, a midway point between their homes. You see, Angela put her search radius in the dating app at 50 miles to be funny, so thank goodness the love of her life lived 48 miles away!

Angela must have tried on 37 outfits, texted all of her friends for advice, and still got to the restaurant 20 minutes early! (A surprising fact because she is never that early) Angela was so nervous that she made a beeline for the bathroom at the back of the restaurant, not knowing that she had zoomed right past Jesús at the door.

After dinner with mole, fresh corn tortillas, and delicious margaritas, Jesús had planned an activity to test Angela's wit... an escape room! The escape room was a mystery about a killer in a doll house with all of his "friends." Angela and Jesús did most of the legwork to solve the clues while the other people locked in the room kept trying to cheat! Thankfully Jesús' left brain came in to help solve the math problems and Angela's right brain came in to solve the creative riddles in order to beat the puzzle and escape with their lives!

Jesús likes to try to plan things to be romantic, but for a first date with such a lovely lady that astounded him from the moment he laid eyes on her, he was trying to not keep his hopes up. He did not plan for anything after the escape room because he was not even sure Angela would want to hang out after dinner! Perhaps he was more charming than he thought, because Angela, after muttering "bread and butter", quickly asked what the next activity was and Jesús was mute in shock. So, Angela proposed to go get a drink at a nearby pub and chat more, but not before she made another beeline to the bathroom! Perhaps to tell everyone she was still alive and was not kidnapped by some Mexican dude.

The night was short but they talked for a long time before Jesús took Angela back to her car and gave her a goodbye hug. He did not know what she really thought of him after the entire date, but he knew that she was an amazing lady and he would be crazy to not show his interest in her.

Nuestra historia comenzó en el verano de 2017 cuando Angela y Jesús casi habían terminado de intentar encontrar su otra mitad. ¡La búsqueda de su "pez en el mar" se sintió como un pirata en busca del tesoro difícil de alcanzar!

Como último recurso, Jesús aceptó ingresar a una aplicación de citas, pero no estaba seguro de que fuera diferente de los otros en los que trató de encontrar a su compañera para el resto de su vida. Angela había recibido una invitación especial de su amiga, Nicole, quien tuvo buena suerte con esa aplicación (¡GRACIAS NICOLE!). Ambos coincidieron poco después de que se lanzara la aplicación en Dallas ... ¿Fue la apariencia hermosa y nerd de Jesús la que llamó la atención de Angela? ¿O fue la hermosa sonrisa e ingenio de Angela lo que atrajo a Jesús? ¡El mundo tal vez nunca lo sepa!

… Bueno. A decir verdad, en realidad lo que había convencido a Angela en ir a una cita con Jesús fue el hecho de que Jesús le dijo a Angela que él haría un gruñido de Chewbacca en su primera cita.

La primera cita fue en Meso Maya, un restaurante mexicano en el centro de Dallas, un punto intermedio entre sus hogares. Verás, Angela puso su radio de búsqueda en la aplicación de citas a 80 kilómetros para ser graciosa, así que, gracias a Dios, el amor de su vida vivió a 77 kilómetros de distancia.

¡Angela debió haberse probado como 37 atuendos y le envió varios mensajes a todas sus amigas para pedirles consejo, y aun así llegó al restaurante 20 minutos antes! (Un hecho sorprendente porque ella nunca es puntual). Angela estaba tan nerviosa que se dirigió directamente al baño en la parte de atrás del restaurante, sin saber que había pasado junto a Jesús en la entrada.

Después de una rica cena con mole, chicharrones y deliciosas margaritas, Jesús había planeado una actividad para probar el ingenio de Angela ... ¡una sala de escape! La sala de escape era un misterio sobre un asesino en una casa de muñecas con todos sus "amigos". ¡Angela y Jesús hicieron la mayor parte del trabajo de campo para resolver las pistas mientras las otras personas encerradas en la sala seguían intentando hacer trampa! ¡Afortunadamente, el cerebro izquierdo de Jesús entró para ayudar a resolver los problemas matemáticos y el cerebro derecho de Angela llegó a resolver los enigmas creativos para vencer el rompecabezas y escapar con sus vidas!

A Jesús le gusta tratar de planear las cosas para que sean románticas, pero para una primera cita con una dama tan encantadora que lo asombró desde el momento en que la vio, estaba tratando de no mantener sus esperanzas. ¡Él no planeó nada después de la sala de escape porque ni siquiera estaba seguro de que Angela quisiera salir después de la cena! Tal vez Jesús fue más encantador de lo que el pensaba, porque Angela, después de murmurar "pan y mantequilla", rápidamente le preguntó cuál era la siguiente actividad y Jesús se quedó mudo y en estado de shock. Así que, Angela propuso ir a tomar una copa a un bar cercano y seguir platicando más… ¡pero no antes de irse al baño! Tal vez para decirle a todos que todavía estaba viva y que no fue secuestrada por un tipo mexicano.

La noche fue corta, pero hablaron por mucho tiempo antes de que Jesús se llevara a Ángela a su auto y le diera un abrazo de despedida. Él no sabía lo que ella realmente pensaba de él después de toda la cita, pero sabía que ella era una mujer increíble y que estaría loco por no mostrar su interés en ella.
