Angela's VersionThe first day I moved into the dorm at UW-Madison, my roommate, Allie and I were getting our room set up and getting ready to leave for an ice cream social. I believe we were possibly doing handstands or maybe even twerking in the hallway (after all it was day one of college!) when Tyler and his roommate, Derek walked by on their way to the social. If memory serves, I may have fallen out of my handstand onto Tyler in the hallway. Later that night he would ask me to attend a frat party with him as he "needed girls to get let in". We spent that entire night together and walked home along the train tracks in the middle of the night talking nonstop- and 10 years later we haven't stopped talking!

Tyler's VersionIt was my first week on campus at Madison and I was coming back from the Dejope cafeteria to the dorm room. At the top of the three flights of stairs, I had to walk across an over 100 foot long hallway to get to my dorm room. A nervous new student, I was wishing I wouldn’t see anyone. But then! I turn out of the staircase preparing to race down the hallway and I see two girls, and one TWERKING on the hallway walls. What was this! Upside down, hands on the floor, feet on the walls. I had to make the long walk trying not to laugh, not to be embarrassing… but she kept twerking. When I’m a couple feet away she tumbled to the floor - it was Angela dancing and her roommate Allie giving feedback, practicing for the next party dance off. And that was it! I was sold!

Tidbits What was your most memorable date?Our first date was at this Irish pub in Madison, it's one of our favorite dinners together - we shared beer cheese dip for the first time as Midwesterners. What's your favorite activity together?Traveling and going on long long walks. In fact, 80% of our Chicago visitors have complained about the length of our walking tour. If you'd like a walking tour during the wedding weekend- we are free! Where are you going for your honeymoon?Hopefully to see more of the world and go on lots of adventures! Our dream is to walk with the gorillas in Africa. What's the best meal you have eaten together?In Thailand we were invited into a stranger's home where they cooked us a feast- it was so special and remains one of our favorite memories together. What's the most memorable trip you have taken together?We lived abroad together in Copenhagen for 6 months and went to over 20 European cities. This was the time of our lives! We’re on the same page about...Mostly everything except where the best deep dish in Chicago is and what's an appropriate bed time. A life goal of ours is...Acquire as many animals as possible, buy a boat, live out a of a van, see the world! The most spontaneous thing we’ve done is...Got engaged, after ONLY TEN YEARS???? Some say we're taking a risk- we think it'll be worth it. The dorkiest thing about us is...We always take Tums before we play PickleBall- it's a ritual. We are regulars at...Gorilla Sushi- it's $3 a roll?! We take pride in...Our beautiful friends and family. But mostly our stunning, gorgeous cats.

Our Story

We have reserved a room block at the Westin downtown. It is completely optional to utilize this block as there are many other hotels in River North. Tyler and Angela will be staying here. Of note: there is no way to guarantee the type of room you will get (one vs. two beds). If you know you need two double beds please note that in the "requests" section of your reservation and let Tyler and Angela know OR book outside of the room block to guarantee.

The Westin room block is booking up quickly! We have added a few rooms at the nearby Sheraton on the Riverwalk as a courtesy. Please feel free to utilize this block or any other nearby hotel.

There are two airports in Chicago: O'Hare or Midway. We are personally fans of flying Southwest into Midway. You can take the blue line CTA from O'hare or the orange line CTA from Midway- you can utilize your credit card tap to get onto the trains. Of course you can also Uber/Cab/Lyft to downtown Chicago (River North) where we recommend everyone stays.

Getting Downtown

The venue is located in Lincoln Park, about a 15 minute drive from the Westin Hotel/River North. Please take a ride share or cab to the event. There will be limited parking on site. We will provide a trolley from 11pm-1am that will go back and forth from the venue to the Westin every 20 minutes.

Travel

The free Lincoln Park Zoo is located right next to our home in Chicago and is one of our favorite activities. Just outside of the zoo is a beautiful nature boardwalk.

One of our favorite things to do in Chicago is walk, bike and swim at the Chicago Lakefront. The walking path runs along Lake Michigan and you can jump in the water at the various beaches including North Avenue Beach.

Chicago is one of the best foodie cities in the world. For some of the best food check out the West Loop neighborhood: Trivoli Tavern, Aba, The Publican, Momotaro Some more favorites around the city: S.K.Y, Tanta, Il Porcellino, Lula Cafe, Daisies, Chicago Pizza &amp; Oven Grinder Classic grubs: Portillos (get the cake shake) &amp; Billy Goat Tavern Let's talk deep dish pizza, a large point of contention in our relationship- if you try one let us know who's right!Angela's Favorite: GiordanosTyler's Favorite: Lou Malnatis

Where to Eat

Ranked the #2 tourist attraction second only to the Vatican is the Architecture Tour! We've taken it more times than we'd like to admit and cannot recommend it enough. If you miss out on this activity though, Tyler can recite the entire tour to you anytime. Fun fact: you can also opt to do the tour on a kayak!

Visit Millennium Park and check out the famous bean, Buckingham fountain, gardens and even catch a symphony show!

Amber and Angela have been best friends since they were only 8 years old. Amber and her husband, Nick live in Santa Monica, California with their cat Phoebe. She is incredibly sweet and the life of every party!

Josh is Tyler's younger brother and is charming, funny and has great taste in wine. Josh lives in Brooklyn, NY and hosts great rooftop parties!

Catherine or "Critter" is Tyler and Angela's best friend from college. She's been a critical part of their relationship for the past 11 years and remains one of the most beautiful people they know! She lives right nearby in Lincoln Park, Chicago with her partner Dan.

AJ is Angela's older brother and is hilarious, intelligent and an avid reader. AJ lives right next door to the Lanes in West Village, NY with his partner, Stevie.

Janelle is one of Angela's best friends from middle school. She is smart, thoughtful and a lifetime friend. She currently lives in San Francisco with her lovely partner, Kenzie!

Owen is Tyler's brother in all sense of the word. Owen and Tyler grew up next door to each other and the Lane and Silitch families became one. Owen is incredibly adventurous and fun and currently lives in Bozeman, Montana.

Mr. Binx is a gorgeous, curious, cuddly nugget of love. Mr. Binx loves to wake us up at all hours of the night and keeps watch over the neighborhood.

Bunny is a fluffy, lazy, ball of love. He loves his giant carrot stuffed with catnip and hates when we wake him up from his naps. He has been caught sneaking treats at all hours of the night.
