Our Story

Our love story isn't your average fairytale, but one we feel like God had a total hand in! We had both intentionally been looking for someone to share a life with, but the faith part is what was lacking for us both in previous relationships. With a nudge from a success story of a friend on Angelle's side, and one from Carter's mom, we had both decided to get on Catholic Match knowing it would be a "needle in a haystack" kind of situation. Take note though, at this time Angelle was in Nashville, TN and Carter in Houston, TX. The common denominator, however, was our Catholic faith and desire to meet someone who shared the same beliefs. Carter ended up coming across Angelle's profile and thought "shoot she's in Tennessee this will never happen, but what the heck I'm gonna like her profile anyways." Angelle noticed some handsome guy slide into her liked area and realized he was from Texas. Bummed that he lived so far away, but also confused because she would have never put as far as Texas as an option if she had known there was a distance tab. With all this set aside, she decided to message Carter back asking him if he was still in a food coma after all the Thanksgiving meals. Little did she know that Carter is the biggest foodie and that this would be the start of a forever together! After talking back and forth for the whole month of December 2019, right after Christmas Carter booked a flight to visit Angelle in person in January of 2020 in Nashville. We both knew this weekend could be totally awkward and a complete disaster but also knew it could be the spark of something incredible. Needless to say, it was the latter! After our first weekend together, we knew we were each in the presence of someone we had both been praying for and decided to give the long distance thing a shot. After numerous flights back and forth from Houston to Nashville and Nashville to Houston through the pandemic, Angelle moved to Houston at the end of August 2020 so the two of us could start a life together in the same city. We really wanted to make sure we were meant to be after getting thrown into real life situations. We were immediately challenged with new situations, environment changes, change of jobs/loss of job on Angelle's end, and a new puppy we named Nash. Let's just say through thick and thin we were brought even closer and reassured our love was stronger than ever. Carter proposed to Angelle the day after Christmas 2020 at Angelle's favorite lookout spot in Percy Warner Park in Nashville and the same park that Carter says he fell in love with Angelle the first weekend he came to visit. We were showered with love and surprises from friends and family to celebrate our engagement and the excitement has continued to pile on! We CANNOT WAIT to celebrate the biggest step in our lives together as we enter into marriage, and are so excited to have you there with us! Covid has put some restrictions on our guest list, but we know it'll still be the most perfect day because we get to start a life together and get to have you be a part of it. We hope you can be there with us, but totally understand if you can't because...well...times are weird right now. Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum

Nashville is considered the "Athens of the South" so they built this beautiful Parthenon within Centennial Park. You can tour the inside for a low fee, or take a stroll around it throughout the park.

With several different entrances, this is Angelle and Carter's favorite park to walk or hike in and also the same park (and exact spot in this photo) that Carter proposed!

If you're into beautiful flowers and gardens, Cheekwood is Nashville's most famous spot for them!

One of the most popular bars on Lower Broadway that is 3 stories and offers (in normal circumstances) a different band on each floor.

The last bar on Broadway with multiple levels with the rooftop overlooking the Cumberland River and Nissan Stadium.

Cody and Carter both attended high school and St. John the Baptist Catholic church together growing up. They have been on many adventures together and if there’s anything Carter needed help fixing around the house Cody is the first guy he would call. They have bonded over old school country music, BBQ cook-offs, hunting, and Karaoke nights at Martinez Mexican restaurant.

Monique is not just Angelle's sister, but also a best friend that will always be there through thick and thin. Monique is a teacher for Teach for America in New Orleans, LA and has a heart, soul, and spirit that will light up any room! She loves to travel, has a creative mind, is unselfish, and will be the first person to drive or fly simply for a friend in need. Anyone who is blessed enough to have Monique in their life will come out stronger and more full of life than they were before she entered.

Matt is Angelle's older brother, and Carter is pumped he can now say he has an older brother and someone he can look to for guidance as a parent to his kids and husband to his wife and Bridesmaid, Lindsay. Matt is also someone who Carter already looks up to in his faith life!

Matthew Hayes

Lindsay is Angelle's sister-in-law, married to Groomsman, Matthew Hayes, and the most incredible mother to Ada, Levi, Abram, and Leo. Lindsay has been a voice of reason, true love, a spiritual leader, and someone Angelle very dearly looks up to as an older sister.

Jason is one of Angelle's younger brothers and Carter's future brother-in-law. Carter has been both impressed and jealous of Jason’s ability to speak fluent Spanish. Carter was also impressed with the fact that when helping to move Angelle out of her condo in Nashville, Jason didn’t even break a single sweat! Carter can now say he has a brother and someone he looks forward to outdoor adventures with, similar to the hike they took with Angelle to Twin Falls!

Jason Hayes

Sam is Carter's sister, and Angelle's future sister-in-law who has a sense of fashion that'll make you think she's an influencer! She's the best dog mom to Cora and Nuk. She has the most welcoming personality and Angelle is counting her blessings that she lucked out with such a fun and incredible new sister!

Samantha Candrian

Daniel is Angelle’s youngest brother and soon to be graduate of the University of Tennessee. Carter's first memories of Daniel is when he came close to landing a backflip on a wakeboard and beating him in beer pong on his 21st birthday...surely there will be more games like these to come in the future! Carter can now say he has a younger brother he's wanted and never had.

Chelsea is the world's best Pediatric Nurse who now works in Oncology in Phoenix, AZ. Angelle transitioned schools in 8th grade and Chelsea was the first person to introduce herself and make Angelle feel welcomed....since then Angelle and Chelsea have experienced all kinds of life together and will always be one of Angelle's best friends who she cherishes like a sister. She is also the biggest and best hype woman who can get you excited about anything and everything!

Chelsea Carter

Geriet and Carter were both classmates in middle and high school growing up. They were also both in Boy Scouts together earning the rank of Eagle Scout. They have bonded over outdoor sports activities together including, skateboarding, wakeboarding, and snowboarding.

Geriet Crumm

Anna is probably the most spunkiest person you'll ever meet. She's full of honest truth, incredible energy, and the best hugs you'll ever receive. She'll make you feel like a million bucks but will also grind out the nitty gritty tough stuff with you. Anna has been a beautiful blessing in Angelle's life and is helping with the flowers for the wedding!

Anna Baker

Alyssa is a CRNA in Nashville who recently just got married a little over a year ago. Alyssa has been one of Angelle's best friends since volleyball in 8th grade! Their friendship has stayed solid over the years and through many trips, half-marathons, nights out on the town, or simple wine nights, Alyssa will always be a friend that Angelle keeps close to her heart.

Alyssa Hagen

Justin and Carter were both classmates in middle and high school growing up. They were both on the high school basketball team together and have bonded over Houston sports as well as fantasy football. Justin has always been a great person to talk to especially about life but also about the trials and tribulations of being a homeowner!

Justin Garza

Rachel is one of Angelle's best friends from college and her saving grace through nursing school. Rachel currently lives in Knoxville, TN with her husband and two precious little girls and works as a Nurse Practitioner. Rachel is full of honest truth and embodies God in all she does, which is something Angelle will always love and appreciate about Rachel and their friendship. Her love and trust in the Lord is contagious and so admirable.

Rachel Frazier

Rene and Carter were both classmates in middle and high school growing up. They also attended St. John the Baptist Catholic church and CCE together. They were both on the high school basketball team and have been on an adult basketball league team also. They have bonded over Houston sports and if Carter has ever needed a helping hand, Rene is the man to call.

René Gutierrez

Ansley has been a friend of Angelle's since 1st Communion in the second grade. Since then, their friendship has flourished from going to the Teton Mountains on a Mother-Daughter trip after 8th grade, high school fun,  and multiple wine and dinner nights together post college. Ansley is always down to do something fun, and never fails to make anyone laugh. If you ever need a Real Estate Agent in Nashville, Ansley is your girl...trust me, she saved Angelle from her flooded house!

Ansley Goodheart

Brad and Carter were both pledge brothers and fraternity brothers in the Sigma Chi Fraternity at Texas State University. They have both enjoyed going to sporting events together, tubing down the river and hanging out at alumni events. Brad is the type of guy who always has a couch for you to crash on and even though living in different cities, has made an effort in always keeping in touch.

Rachel is one of those friends that everyone wants to have! She's full of life, energy, faith, and just a flat out good time. Rachel and Angelle went to rival high schools, but connected through the Catholic circle in Nashville a few years ago. Angelle has since cherished Rachel as an incredible friend, and someone she will always want to keep in her life.

Rachel Roggensack

David and Carter have known each other since they were about 10 years old. David and his twin brother Josh were the first people to teach Carter how to skateboard. They have traveled to different cities to skateboard and to this day, still meet up at the local skate park to hone their craft.

David Abraham

Mary Beth is the most fun Kindergarten teacher in Nashville and her stories from her students will make you laugh until you cry! She's also a big horseback rider and owner to her horse, Chuy. Angelle and Mary Beth met through Anna (another Bridesmaid) about 8 years ago but really connected a few years after, and is a friend that Angelle never wants to let go of having. If you know Mary Beth is going to be where you are, you know you're going to have the best time...she is the epitome of life of the party!
