About Us

Brian Bailey

David Brian Bailey was born in Georgia to an Irish-American father and a Cherokee mother. After spending a few years in South Carolina, he moved to his grandparents' cattle ranch outside of Las Vegas, NV when he was 6. Brian was a star high school athlete, competing in wrestling and bull-riding. He joined the US Marine Corps at 17, and spent 12 years in active duty until his medical retirement in 2012. Since then he has continued to do private defense work. As a desert boy, he is still getting used to living in rainy and humid Miami.

Angie Font

Anyoli Font was born and raised in Hialeah, FL to a Cuban family. She was an honors student, and received a full ride to the University of Miami to study political science and communications. She later received her MBA from Nova Southeastern. She worked in healthcare administration for 11 years, and currently consults in business management. When not working, Angie is duly dedicated to volunteering through Kiwanis International. As a city girl, she is still getting used to living with a cowboy.

How They Met

The Almost-Fail

Like most modern couple, Angie and Brian met via a mobile dating app in February 2015. Brian was in Miami, staying at a hostel while waiting on his next contract's departure date. Angie visited him at the hostel, on a day that he decided to entertain the hostel guests (Long live Margarita Mondays!). Long story short - this couple almost never happened, as Angie was already looking for the nearest exit when Brian jumped on the bar to get the female patrons to stuff dollars down his shorts. Thankfully he came down in time to stop her from leaving, and convinced her to stay long enough to have a great conversation.

The First Date

A couple of weeks later, Brian took Angie on a proper date to 100 Montaditos on Lincoln Road, and later for frozen yogurt. The rest of the evening was spent blissfully lounging on the beach sand, getting to know each other. In a touch of sentimentality, they still have the new beach towels bought for the night for sitting on the shore.

And Then...

Brian was still only in Miami temporarily, but dates continued - Zoo Miami, Monkey Jungle, baseball games, trips to the Keys and Orlando, and even volunteering together. Weeks came and went, and Brian continued to extend his stay in Miami, eventually deciding not to take a new contract that would make him have to leave for what could be weeks or even months. Six months later, Angie welcomed him as a permanent roommate.

How He Proposed

The First Time

The first time started as a joke that never ended. While away together at a conference for Kiwanis in April, Brian was entertaining others with his intentions to marry Angie during International Convention in Las Vegas this summer. While Angie laughed it off at first (this was not the first time this idea had been kicked around), friends thought this was an excellent idea and encouraged them. Brian got down on one knee in front of a room of Kiwanians, and asked Angie to marry him. She said yes! But wait...

The Second Time

Pics or it didn't happen? The engagement was kept a secret for a few weeks while ring shopping was done, and plans were hatched to tell their friends and family. Brian proposed one more time, on Mother's Day in front of Angie's family, so that they could share in the special moment.

What Happens in Vegas

Getting Married at Kiwanis Convention

True to the spirit of their engagement, Brian and Angie exchanged vows in Las Vegas during an already-planned trip to Kiwanis International Convention in June. What started out as Brian's plan to get married underwater by Elvis Presley has evolved on a compromise to say I Do on dry land at the famous Little White Wedding Chapel. They were married in front of friends, family and Elvis on June 29th.

Vegas to Miami

After Vegas, Brian will be back in Miami with Angie as a permanent Floridian. In order to celebrate their new marriage with the rest of their family and friends, a traditional wedding reception will be held in Miami in December. A less Elvis-like officiant will be reaffirming their Vegas vows to each other.
