Where do I go in the Dusit for the wedding?
The ceremony and cocktail hour will be held at the Villa Azul in The Dusit Thani Resort. It can take a while to actually get inside to the lobby of the hotel and find the correct elevator so we suggest giving yourself an extra 15 minutes of time if you're not familiar. To get to the Villa, enter the hotel lobby on the first floor and go to the elevators near the concierge desk. There will be ushers to escort you up the elevators and to the Villa. Dinner and reception will follow in the Salon at the Dusit.
How the heck do I get to Guam?
There are many routes and the quickest is via United Airlines (DEN - NRT - GUM or DEN - HNL - GUM if you're in Colorado).
Cheaper options would be flying to Manila, Taipei, or Seoul then to Guam (these just have longer travel times). You would also have to also consider the Cabotage Act/Law meaning you need to use at least one U.S. airline to your leg to Guam. (ex: Philippine Airlines from SF to Manila, then United Airlines from Manila to Guam) You cannot use a foreign airline carrier for every leg of your flight.
How much time do I need to come to Guam?
The absolute minimum amount, in terms of how many days you would be gone, would be 5 days. However, between travel time and some mild jet lag, we would definitely recommend at least 7 days. There will be a couple of events during/after the wedding week that we would love for everyone to attend. Plus if you're coming all the way out here, you might as well take some time to also enjoy this beautiful island!
Where are other places you would recommend to visit while I'm on that side of the planet?
These places are fairly cheap and easy to get to either before or after your visit to Guam.
-Philippines
-Japan
-S. Korea
-Taiwan
-Hong Kong
-Hawaii
-Palau
Do I need a rental car?
Easiest way is to book through Expedia as there are multiple companies and cars ranging from $20-$50 a day (Hertz, Economy, Alamo, Enterprise Dollar, and Avis to name a few).
Lots of travel RNs on Guam use Andy's Car rental, but using Expedia will be the most convenient.
Depending on how long you're staying and what you want to do on island will depend if you need a car or not. We are hoping to give as many people as we can rides from the airport. The airport is only about 10-15 mins drive to most hotels/Airbnb's. If you're wanting to just stick to the beach for most of your time, you could probably get away with not having a car (there is not uber/lyft on the island). But if you're wanting to explore the island, we would recommend renting a car.
You could also check with others who are coming about sharing a rented car together!
Do I need cash?
Most places accept card and cash. Some things like beach vendors or some of the small markets may be cash only.
What do I do about a phone there?
Check with your phone carrier if they offer service on Guam and how much. If your phone is unlocked, you can use an e-sim via Holafly, Airalo, or Docomo Pacific or get one in person at the Micronesia Mall at Docomo Pacific or IT&E.
Where do I stay?
We recommend staying in Tumon or Tamuning. We have a list of hotels we recommend in those areas under the "Travel" tab.
The wedding is at the Dusit Thani. If this is where you would like to stay, let them know you are booking for our wedding for special rates. The Dusit Beach Resort is a separate hotel but just next door to the Dusit Thani.
Do I need a passport?
You will need a passport for any international route you are taking. If your route is through Hawaii, you do not need a passport.
Can i bring my kids?
Haha that's funny, no :)
What do I do if I'm still confused and have other questions???
Call or text us, duh! We recommend getting "Whatsapp" to use for messaging and making calls while on island. It can be used in the case you only have wifi. Kevin's whatsapp- US +1-443-487-2939 Angie's whatsapp-US +1-443-974-3798
