Our Story

In 2022, Jon met Ann at a costume party. True story - she was dressed like a Slinky. He’d never seen a costume like that. He didn’t know if she made it herself but thought, “Wow, that girl is really creative!” He’ll never forget the first time he saw her -- she was tumbling down the stairs…

Ok, ok. NOT a true story…

Jon and Ann met on a dating app in the summer of 2022. Luckily for Jon, she fell within his 3 mile radius filter. Jon hates driving in LA traffic!

In viewing her profile, Jon was attracted to Ann’s beautiful smile and pictures with foster pit bulls. Ann was attracted to Jon’s handsome face and his many pictures of adventuring in the outdoors, although still to this day she refuses to camp with him unless the tent is attached to a 5+ star hotel bathroom.

Alas, there must’ve been some tingles in the air since he still wanted a second date knowing she’s a glamper, not a camper.

Their first date was a bit delayed and almost didn’t happen since Jon didn’t ask for her phone number, just communicated through the dating app to set up the first date. She wondered, “Is this guy serious about getting together or not?” She didn’t know that Jon was thinking, “There’s so many crazies out there (especially in LA), can’t give away my number… I mean his number… until we meet in person.

They finally met at Afuri Ramen + Dumpling in the LA Arts District after work (which Jon picked because he could walk there from his office, but she didn’t know that then). It was just a short drive from her work as well, but he received a text, “I’m running late, sorry!” He almost left right then and there since, to him, five minutes late might as well of been an hour late. He being a very prompt and courteous individual at all times. But he stayed and was very glad he did.

They talked the usual chit-chat subjects: family, work, foster dogs, hobbies, foster dogs, cuisine and foster dogs. One thing that struck Jon was how often she talked about friends and family - grade school friends, high school friends, college friends, work friends, this cousin, that cousin. He thought that to be good determination of character. One thing that struck Ann was that he was making good money at Spotify, and also his incredible good looks, kindness, intellectual acuity and way too many other things to list.

Did the first date end with a kiss???

YES!

After walking Ann to her car, they hugged, their faces were close, then Jon asked, “How do you feel?” She didn’t say anything but tilted her face upward toward his. He took this to mean she wanted a kiss. She didn’t exactly mean to show she wanted a kiss. She is a proper young lady! But 5 sweet little pecks later, they both went home with wide smiles on their faces.
