Wedding Ideology

Representing Christian Love

In Cana of Galilee Jesus performed the first miracle of his ministry, and did so in the name of unity, love, joy, and fellowship. By providing sufficient wine Jesus kept alive a gathering that stepped outside of everyday social reality and provided relief for those gathered. The miracle of this celebration was relief from judgement, one-sidedness, division, and labels. We pray that we are able to capture the spirit of this miracle on our own wedding day by hosting a gathering that is inclusive, joyful, and unifying. On this day please help us affirm that however we identify, whomever we love, however we vote, or in whatever ways in which we pray, the most important commonality is that we are all sacred children of God, and are all equal in Gods divine eyes. As Christian theologian and co-founder of the Methodist Church, John Wesley dreamed; "Though we cannot think alike, may we not love alike? May we not be of one heart, though we are not of one opinion?" Thank you and God bless.

The Story of Us

Tom and Ann were both pursuing Masters of Divinity degrees at Iliff School of Theology when they met through mutual friends. Shortly after, Tom was in need of a temporary living space. Ann lived in a house with 3 others and one of her roommates offered Tom the guest room. For two months Ann and Tom spent countless meals, study sessions, & movie nights hanging out and developing a friendship. Shortly after Tom moved into his own space did the two go out on their first date.

A year and two months later, Tom and Ann were out on a Friday night. Tom had been waiting for the engagement ring to arrive. However, he couldn't wait and spontaneously decided to take Ann to a nearby park and ask her to marry him! She said 'yes'.

A little over a month passed and Ann took Tom to the concert of one of his favorite bands at Red Rocks Amphitheater. Beforehand, she suggested going on a hike in the beautiful mountains of Colorado. They took a moment, a little ways up the trail, to enjoy the beauty of nature. Ann then pulled out a wooden engagement ring and made similar commitments of love and loyalty to Tom.

They look forward to a celebration that will unite their families and friends in the name of joy, love, and fellowship.
