They say opposites attract, and if you ask us, our families, or our friends, we fit that to a T. When I met Ann at our church, I didn't know much about her, other than her amazing voice and beautiful face. But as we spent time together in campus ministry, I was amazed by the way her outgoing, bubbly personality brought so much joy and fun to the most ordinary circumstances, and I knew that was something, someone I wanted in my life.

I vividly remember my first attempt sitting next to Ann at a Sunday student dinner, only to drop pizza in my lap. She may not have remembered it, but I sure thought that was the end of this story. I'm glad I was wrong. Time went on, feelings grew, yet I had a rule: we had to have a good one-on-one conversation before I could ask her out. After a year of my shy personality getting nowhere, I finally got the perfect chance: her call for help painting kid's faces at her church festival. I knew she was out of my league, and wasn't even sure if she had some long-distance boyfriend I'd never met, but with the encouragement of my sister I decided it was finally time to go out on a limb.

I'm so glad I did. In between painting cupcakes, rainbows, and flowers, we got to spend some great time together, and 6 weeks later we had our first date. The three years since have been such a wonderful journey and we're thrilled to share it with you.
