Whether you're into nature, naval history or the local food scene, there are plenty of things to do (and eat) in Virginia Beach and Norfolk!
See below for some of our favorite spots in VB! Believe it or not, we don't spend all our time swimming or surfing at the beach.
Located along the Chesapeake Bay, the park features more than 19 miles of hiking trails through protected salt marshes, dunes, forest, and cypress swamps.
This park is where English colonists first landed in 1607 and is the most visited state park in Virginia!
Nestled in Chic's Beach on the Chesapeake Bay, this brewery is one of our favorite spots to hang out. They have a good selection of beer and are pet friendly. Who doesn't love beer and dogs?
The aquarium has gallons of fun for kids and is an entertaining way to learn about the types of animals living in the Chesapeake Bay.
Calling all sandwich lovers! This is our go-to place for gourmet sandwiches. We are here at least once a week.
If you have a sweet tooth like Anna and get a craving for ice cream, Lolly's is the place to go!
(Graeter's is still the best for those coming from Cincinnati)
If you feel like taking advantages of the local beaches, there are several to choose from – both along the Atlantic and the Chesapeake Bay. Here are a few of our go-to spots!
Chic’s Beach – located along the Chesapeake Bay with a great view of the Chesapeake Bay bridge. It’s a local favorite and is close to many restaurants and bars.
The North End – located in the northern part of the VB Oceanfront (32nd - 82nd Streets). This is a more secluded beach experience away from the touristic part of the Oceanfront.
The Oceanfront – if you’re looking for more entertainment, visit VB's resort area. There are several shops, restaurants, bars and live music as well as a three-mile boardwalk perfect for walking, jogging, or biking.
If you feel like venturing over to Norfolk, here are a few cool spots that the Mermaid City has to offer!
Did you know that Norfolk is home to the world's largest Naval base? If you're interested in seeing an old naval ship up close, stop by the USS Wisconsin.
The Wisconsin is one of the largest battleships built by the US Navy and is located right in the heart of Downtown Norfolk.
There is always something blooming at Virginia's largest botanical gardens! The 155-acre haven has something for everyone and features more than 60 themed gardens.
Guests need to purchase Time-Entry-Tickets before entering the gardens.
Explore Norfolk's unique waterfront by winding your way along the 10.5 mile trail from Downtown's Waterside District through the historic neighborhoods of Freemason and Ghent.
Breweries, restaurants, and shops can also be found along the trail.
