Anna and I both grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. Both of our parents sent us to Shades Mountain Christian School, a very small private school where everyone knows everyone. This is where we would meet. Anna is two years older than me, a fact I rarely let her forget, but it was hard to not know of each other given our school’s size and that we shared a bus to every away basketball game we played for 3 years. I’m sure to her I was just the loud tall kid a few grades below her, but to me she was the hot older girl I got to be on the same bus with.

Once she graduated and went on to bigger and better things at UAB, I never let her forget about the loud tall kid. Every so often, I would respond to a story, send a random text, or like a post, anything I could to strike up conversation. And every single time, no matter when, it seemed she was always unavailable. However, life has a funny way of coming full circle, and about a year and half ago she was the one replying to my instagram story leading us to where we are today.
