Q + A

Can you describe the venue?

We fell in love with Ashton Gardens when we first visited. The Chapel is serene and breathtaking—an unforgettable place to say "I do." Just steps away, the Ballroom feels warm and elegant. The thoughtful layout and ample parking make it easy for everyone to be part of the day. We can’t wait to fill these spaces with the love and laughter of our closest family and friends.

What should I wear?

Elegant, but not black tie (unless that is your preference). For the ladies, cocktail, party, or ‘Sunday-best’ dresses are perfect, as are suits, sport coats, or dress shirts for the gentlemen.

Can I post pictures to social media?

We’re so glad you’re excited to capture memories from our big day—your joy means the world to us! We absolutely welcome guests to take photos and share them on social media using our wedding hashtag: #SkillinIt so we can see them all too! That said, we kindly ask that you keep a few things in mind: We’ve hired a professional photographer to document the day, so we’d love to avoid having photos filled with guests holding up phones and cameras. A quick, discreet snapshot here and there is totally fine, but we kindly ask that you stay in the moment—especially during the ceremony. We’d rather see your smiling faces than a sea of phones! Thanks for helping us keep the focus on love and being together!

Transportation Options in Sugar Hill

A Note About the Bride’s Name

You may have known the bride as Anna Kate—and that name will always be a special part of who she is. But after the wedding, she’ll be making a small update to her name in more ways than one. When she takes Sam’s last name, she’ll also officially start going by Anya—a variation of just one letter, and a name that has grown with her. She considered this change in high school, started using it occasionally in college, began using it frequently after moving to Sandy Springs for her job, and it’s become a natural reflection of the person she’s become over the years. In college, many friends knew her as “AK”, and that still fits! She’ll now be Anya Kate Alford Skillin, keeping the same beloved initials and the same self—just with a slightly new ring to it. This change isn’t about leaving anything behind or letting go of the past, but stepping into the future with intention. So whether you call her Anna Kate, Anya, Anya Kate or AK, she’ll be grateful and glad to hear it—especially if you’re calling with love.
