Anna’s Version

Our love story has been quite the journey. It all began on the day we met, July 4, 2016. I spent the day at the beach with my friends playing volleyball and sunbathing. As any teenager would, we were trying to figure out where to end our epic night. We heard of a house party/BBQ happening… When we arrived, little did we know that it was at some person’s grandma’s house! Not knowing what to expect, we arrived with some food, beverages, and ready for a good time.

Shortly upon arriving, I met Phil and we could not stop yapping! We ended up sitting on a swinging bench in the backyard, swinging and talking for a few hours that night about everything in life. I have never connected with someone so quickly.. It’s as if we have known each other our whole lives. After the night came to an end, we exchanged numbers and then we began yapping through text nonstop. No matter what would happen, I just knew that we would be in each other's lives.

As one teenager does, I friendzoned Phil the first year of us knowing each other. I decided to focus on other aspects in my life but one constant was having Phil and our connection. We became the best of friends and would hangout all the time! We eventually realized that there is no denying that there was something special here.. something more. Phil asked me out October 14, 2017 and we have been inseparable since!

All thanks to God’s glory. I am eternally and deeply grateful for God’s guidance for bringing Phil into my life. I thank him for orchestrating our paths and allowing me to experience joy, support, and love from Phil’s presence. I recognize this as a precious gift from Him and I will cherish this connection always.

How we met.. (according to Phillip)

Where to begin.. We met on the 4th of July in 2016. Mark (my awesome brother and best man) and I made plans to shoot some fireworks over at our friend Marcin’s grandma’s house and just to chill there for the holiday together. We had already made the drive for our pyrotechnic shenanigans about a week before so everything was set for our day of fun, until a few days before the weekend a friend of mine at school asked what we were doing for the holiday and if she could bring some people. I talked with Marcin and in his natural charm he said “Sure, whatever. I don’t care.” So, our plan to hangout turned into more of a party.

Come the day of, we got some games, beverages, and food. The day was set, and after some time our guests had arrived. We welcomed them in, began introductions, and as they were going through their names and how they all knew each other.. There. She. Was. She had caught my eye from the very beginning. The way her eyes glistened in the sunlight, her demeanor with how she carried herself, the way she spoke. She made such an impact on her first impression with me that something in me just fixated on her, and in that moment I turned to Marcin and told him “Her. Her right there, that’s not the type of girl you date. That’s the type of girl you marry.”

As you might have guessed, I spent the rest of the evening trying to get to know her better. Our conversations flowed naturally, it felt as though I had become reacquainted with an old friend. We found ourselves spending the holiday just getting to know each other, to the point where I had almost forgotten to even light the fireworks! Well, the time had flown by and it was nearing the end of our get together and I HAD to get her number.

For the next year, we had been texting pretty regularly and quickly became the best of friends. Only about a few months after the holiday had I made it clear that I had an interest in dating her, but alas.. The friend zone was where I stayed.. Slightly discouraged, I never gave up hope. I knew that Anna was a ‘one in a million’ type of woman and I knew that there was something more between us, so I kept her in my life with hope that one day I might escape the dreaded friend zone. We continued to keep in touch, even when I went away to school and came back on breaks.. ‘Til one day I had the courage to ask her out. I felt from our conversations that she had grown fond of me for a little while and decided to shoot my shot on a gut feeling. I asked and she said YES!! Filled with joy and excitement, I let out a sigh of relief, and that was the day we started our Bonnie and Clyde adventure together.

God has blessed me by crossing Anna’s path with mine, and I will forever be thankful to Him, and trust in Him to continue to bless us and our union.
