Our Wedding

We met the way any self-respecting DC couple does: talking shop over overpriced cocktails at a K Street bar. Longtime mutual social media followers, Lachlan did the classy thing and hit up Anna over Facebook Messenger under the pretense of discussing their shared interest in money-in-politics. We met at P.J. Clarke's down the street from the White House, and proceeded to talk about...everything except politics. Drinks became dates, dates became travel, we got a dog, moved in together, and the rest is history.

How we met

When Anna said she was leaving for New Orleans to speak at an investigative reporting conference, Lachlan leapt at the opportunity to spend a long weekend in the Big Easy. And he made some plans of his own. After a weekend roaming the French Quarter, we took a quiet gondola ride through the Big Lake sculpture garden in NOLA's beautiful City Park. Serenaded by Italian opera, Lachlan got down on one knee and pulled out the ring. Anna gasped, eyes wide, and immediately said yes. Lachlan's memory is hazy at that point, but Anna never tires of reminding him that as he slid the ring on her finger, he muttered under his breath, "this had better f***ing fit." It fit perfectly.

Hotel - Arya Coconut Grove

The closest airport to the venue and hotel is Miami International Airport (MIA). If you're taking public transit, your best bet will be a taxi or Uber. If you're flying

Buses will be provided to transport guests from the Arya Coconut Grove. The buses will depart at 3:30, 3:45, and 4:00. The ride to Mon Petit Garden is roughly 45 minutes. One 28-person bus will make an early trip back to the hotel at 9:00, then return to Mon Petit Garden to pick up guests after the reception. All three buses will return to Arya Coconut Grove at 11:00. Uber does serve the area, and will generally run between $30 and $40 each way.

We expect that the vast majority of our guests will be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. For those that are not, we ask that you please self-quarantine as best you can in the weeks prior, get tested immediately before coming, and that you maintain social distance at the ceremony to the extent practical. If in the days before the wedding you or anyone you've been in contact with exhibits any COVID-19 symptoms, we ask that you please skip the event and celebrate with us at some future date. The staff at Mon Petit Garden and at our catering company have been extremely helpful and proactive in implementing maximum safety precautions to ensure that everyone feels and is safe.
