How We Met

Anna and Ian met at Duquesne University during their junior year music history class…But that’s the BORING versionThey really met when Anna forgot to request audio/visual support at her junior year recital 2 days before it was supposed to happen. WHOOPS! Luckily, Ian happily volunteered at the last minute to take on the task. Ian didn't even know Anna at that point but He knew she was cute and he wanted to get to know her.A few months went by, although it felt like an eternity for an absolutely lovestruck Ian, and Anna finally decided to go on a date with Ian... although she wouldn't know it was a date until later. After their first "date",Ian had only one thought and to quote Wayne Campbell from the 1992 movie Wayne's World, "She will be mine. Oh yes - She will be mine."After many long conversations and a few more dates Anna finally asked Ian, "Well are you going to kiss me ?" and the rest is history.Although that's the short and highly abridged story, it's our story. Keep reading! It gets better!

Engagement Story

Soooo where do we start...After a busy and somewhat stressful fall 2019 season of beginning new jobs, navigating life, and starting a "long distance relationship", Anna and Ian decided they needed to get away from the craziness of life. Naturally, they googled some ideas, clicked a few links and booked a weekend away at the Getaway House.

Here's where it gets good!

What Anna didn't know was Ian decided to take advantage of what seemed like a normal weekend away and make it into one they'd remember forever and the best part was...

ANNA PLANNED THE ENTIRE TRIP! 

The perfect scenario for surprising her! Up until their engagement Ian had only surprised Anna ONCE, so this is a BIG deal.﻿	In the month leading up to the trip Ian secretively purchased a ring for Anna. With the consult of his mom and sister who drove the whole way across the state to help him, the final piece of the puzzle was ready. Now he just had to not blow the surprise or have Anna find the ring.

The Getaway Trip

The two departed Pittsburgh for the Getaway House after a long week of work and ready for a weekend of resting. However, Anna had no idea how nervous Ian was. It would not be a weekend of relaxing for him until she said yes and they could celebrate.The next morning, Ian woke up and was ready. But the plan on how he would ask still wasn't completely formulated. All he knew was he had a ring, and had written her a note prompting the proposal which he still had NO IDEA how he was going to give her.The day went on, full of hiking and exploring in the cold and Ian had still not found the "perfect spot" to ask. So like an Ian, he continued to procrastinate on what was at hand. Finally, they headed back to the cabin and were ready to make lunch; some good ole' grilled cheese and tomato soup by the campfire.Ian went to make the fire and Anna went to make the food and somewhere, sometime while all that was going on, Ian slipped the note out of his jacket pocket onto the kitchen table hoping Anna would find it and come running out the door looking for question he wanted to ask her.However like most things in life, it didn't go as planned...Instead, Anna burnt the tomato soup onto the bottom of the pan in the kitchen which distracted her from finding the note leaving Ian at a standstill. It wasn't until Ian, basically handed her the note that she read it, asked what was happening and he proposed.

OF COURSE SHE SAID YES!!!

On a more serious note, our story is uniquely ours and has been one that has been constantly marked by the grace of God and His plans for our lives. It's how our relationship started and it's how it always will be. We believe that He truly drew us together on our pursuit of Him and continues to draw us closer to Him and each other, everyday.

Things to Do

Gina and Anna have been friends since preschool. Their once 3 year old brains thought they were twins! (How funny!) Although not twins, they do consider each other sisters. Having shared their childhood and middle school experiences together, high school continued just the same. The two shared similar interests such as musicals, band trips, dances, planning Relay For Life, and many more activities. They both attended Duquesne University and would always run to hug each other on campus whenever they would see one another. Many moments of their lives have been spent together and Gina's reliable friendship has always been a constant in Anna's life. Anna truly loves and cherishes the memories that they've made over the past twenty years and knows there are many more to come! Gina has been there every step of the way and it will be no different on this special day. 

Gina Iacoboni 

Meghan and Anna met during freshman year of high school through dance team. They immediately became close friends through their shared experiences on dance team, in biology class, and of course throughout freshman year (it's tough).Their friendship continued to grow each year through band trips, their love for one direction, and sneak eating goldfish in class. Throughout high school and even now, Meghan and Anna constantly check in with each other on almost everything. Reassuring the other they are doing the right thing, making sure that they pick the right lipstick shade out of the seven in that Meghan has in her bag, and asking really any questions about life. All of these little things amount to one fabulous friendship that Anna loves and cherishes.

Katie and Anna became friends during freshman year of high school and were usually partners for projects in Spanish, Chemistry, Gym, and  many other classes. Their famed Spanish book "Torpella" was a big hit (well they thought it was pretty good). Katie and Anna's friendship spans from band trips, to making themselves sounds like minions from Despicable Me, to a trip to NYC where they somehow managed to not buy a whole store of clothing, accessories, etc. Katie remains a fashion guru, owner of the famed house where all sleepovers have and will happen, and a true friend whom Anna loves and cherishes.

Michelle and Anna have been friends since early on in their high school lives. Having bonded through their love of dance, their friendship grew as they went on band trips together, danced funnily at each other, supported each other through life, experienced moments together that Anna truly cherishes. Anna will never forget the day they went out for coffee and Michelle told her about this wonderful guy (Seth) she had been conversing with for a few days (and now they are about to be married)! Anna has always admired and loved (and still does) Michelle's patient, positive spirit and outlook on life. No matter what life throws their way Michelle will always be there to support Anna and bring peace to any situation.

Erica and Anna have been friends since the 7th grade when Anna transferred from private to public school. Erica was one of her first new friends that helped to guide her through public school life. Anna was and still is so grateful for their friendship that she loves and cherishes. From 7th grade on, the two have spent many days at Crystal Pool (when it was still open), making music playlists, and celebrated their love for Christmas in July. Their friendship even took them through band trips, musicals, and college. Anna and Erica still suggest music to each other, reminisce on the good ole days at Bellmar, and continue to encourage each other in life. 

Erica Morton (Bednarczyk)

Lauren and Anna have been friends since kindergarten. Their friendship spans from vacations together to Disney, doing homework on Lauren's trampoline, dreaming of going to The Bahamas while watching "Holiday in the Sun"(a very old Mary Kate and Ashley movie), walking around Lauren's neighborhood hoping their crushes might see them out and about, many more silly times. Lauren's fun loving personality always makes any activity fun! Anna loves and cherishes their friendship as they still continue to cheer each other on through everything in life just as they did all the way back in elementary school.

Hannah and Anna met a few years ago when Ian took Anna to Lancaster to meet his family. The two share a love of 60s,70s, and 80s music (yes, including Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" which they will sing in the car even after Ian says to skip it) and a love for 80s-2000s Rom Coms. Plus, they almost share a name so that's pretty fun at family gatherings! A few things that should also be know are that Anna thinks that Hannah makes the best lattes, cannot wait to make more memories, and truly cherishes the time they've spent together. In case you haven't caught on, this is one of Ian's sisters whom Anna loves to hang out with!

Abby and Anna met a few years ago when Ian took Anna to Lancaster to meet his family. Abby's fun, free spirited ways have lead to some great memories together. Anna will never forget the time Abby randomly got her nose pierced or the time she kayaked in the middle of Anna and Ian's kayak. Abby and Anna definitely share the love of having a good time, anytime, anywhere. Anna cannot wait to make more memories and truly cherishes that time she has spent with Abby. In case you haven't caught on, this is one of Ian's sisters (the youngest)  whom Anna loves to hang out with.
