How to Get to Dormagen-Zons

Nestled along the banks of the Rhine River, the medieval town of Zons in Dormagen is a charming village located between the two major German cities of Cologne (Köln) and Düsseldorf.

The closest airports to Dormagen-Zons are Frankfurt Airport (FRA) and Düsseldorf Airport (DUS), both of which are easily accessible from the United States.

Frankfurt Airport (FRA) is approximately 1 hour by train or 2 hours by car to Cologne, where we definitely recommend staying. From Cologne, it takes about 45 minutes to get to Zons by car, taxi, or Uber.

Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) is about a 30-minute drive by car, taxi or Uber from Zons. Staying in Düsseldorf proper is also highly recommended.

*Depending on where most of our guests end up staying, we will organize shuttle services between Düsseldorf and Zons/Cologne and Zons for our wedding day. More information on this will be communicated at a later date.*

Once arrived: getting around Germany

By Train: To get around Germany by train, you can book directly through the Deutsche Bahn website: https://int.bahn.de/en/

We strongly urge you to download the app too, which is super helpful to stay up-to-date on scheduling and last minute changes for all of Germany's local and long distance rail transport as well as for subways, trams and buses: https://int.bahn.de/en/booking-information/db-navigator/

By Taxi/Ride Sharing: Using Uber is probably the easiest way to get around, and prices are typically cheaper than in the US. Alternatively, you can also take a taxi, but be sure to have cash on you! Taxis can be ordered in advance using the app FreeNow: https://www.free-now.com/de-en/ride/

By Rental Car: Most major American rental car companies also offer services in Germany, such as Hertz, Avis, Enterprise, etc. Please note that US citizens are indeed allowed to drive in Germany with their US driver's license.

Where to Stay

Aside from Zons itself, you have the option to stay in either Cologne (Köln) or Düsseldorf, which are both vibrant cities located near the wedding venue. Both cities are cultural capitals of the Rhine region and offer a wide range of hotels, restaurants, and attractions to enjoy before and after the wedding. Don't worry, all recommended hotels below have AC!
