It was the 5th of June, 23’ , and I was getting warmed up for the weekly 4-mile Terra run. I scan the room greeting all my peers and notice there is a new guy in the mix. “He’s kinda cute.” I thought. He was talking to my friend Zach and then looked over and we locked eyes. He walked across the room and said, “Aren’t you a Cru leader?” I must have had a look on my face and replied, “I am! Are you in Cru? I have not seen you before. Remind me your name?” Apparently, we have spoke before at a Cru event the previous semester and I was quite embarrassed I did not remember him. For the next couple of weeks, I would come into Terra Trot with a small part of me hoping he would be there to chat with again.

6.12.23 Won a free pair of Brooks Glycerin running shoes that were worth $170. I remember looking over at Daniel and he rolls his eyes.

8.26.23 Cam Run 5k - Daniel asked me if I wanted to do a warm-up mile together before (we both PR'd our 5k time)

9.12.23 First day we started texting (mind you this was on Group Me)

10.12.23 Our 5am conversation. We promise, we just talked. The entire time. Talking about past experiences, traumas, sweet memories, Bluey, read poems created by ChatGPT (don’t ask), and many many more things until we realized we chatted the night away! Daniel had discipleship at 6am and headed out.

11.2.23 Daniel asks me out!! On this day, I just competed at a boxing night called “Night of Champions.” It was awesome. Daniel was able to keep Chick-fil-a open AFTER closing time to celebrate the night with friends.

11.6.23 Our First Date (first of many) We went to the Little Diner on 1st. As I recall, It seemed more like a business interview instead of a date. The moment after we ordered, Daniel looked straight into my eyes and asked, “What is your view on dating?” From there, we talked about boundaries, expectations, and personal interests. We both said that the most important thing about us was our faith. It was settled. I liked him! :)

We started the night out going to the Rodizio Grill where we tried a variety of meats. From there, we had tickets to Rock City’s Enchanted Garden where they light up the sky with beautiful Christmas lights. When we got to the top overlook where the star is, he pulled out a note and began to read. I will never forget the moment. Afterwards, we had an engagement party (which was supposedly a board game night with just a few friends) that all our friends and family came to celebrate.
