Our story begins with a novel. In 7th grade science class, Annaleigh spotted a copy of The Hobbit on a desk three rows ahead of her. It was her favorite book. Charlie was reading it in anticipation of the upcoming movie. For Annaleigh, that was more than enough to be completely smitten.

Four years later, Annaleigh and Charlie started dating. With college on the horizon, they made a pact not to let their decisions influence each other’s choices. Yet, by pure chance (or fate), they both ended up at Kansas State University.

Their time together in Manhattan was filled with early breakfasts at The Chef, board game nights, sorority date parties, and K-State football games.

After graduation, they navigated a long-distance relationship—Annaleigh pursuing her law degree at the University of Missouri, and Charlie beginning his career in Kansas City. They’ve adopted a cat named Azula, who graciously allows the pair to live in her home.
