Our Wedding

Once upon a time, in Jackson, MS, a young bride by the name of Mary Paxton Gibson, was wedded to Matthias Lind. While the crowds were glued to this young couple, something very special was happening behind the scenes. Mark Lind, the best-man at this said ceremony, met the love of his life, a beautiful bridesmaid by the name Annalise Hays. Here is that love story: 	God truly works in mysterious ways. An ever present hope. Mark a resident of the famed PNW town of Tacoma, WA (please don’t move here), and Annalise a resident (at the time) of Dallas, TX never imagined they would be in a long distance relationship. Two Christians who spent plenty of nights praying for that special someone, never expected to find that person 2,111 miles away. Mark first laid eyes on Annalise as she walked down the aisle the night of the rehearsal dinner. Annalise also noticed him that night as he gave his best man speech. The next day they stood across from each other on the stage, as Matthias and Mary Paxton tied the knot. Months later they would find out that they were both thinking about the same thing, the beauty of each other. Fasting forward through the reception, their first true conversation was on the post-wedding bus ride to the local country establishment, known as “Shuckers”. On this ride is where each found out about the deep love for Jesus they both had. The conversation was easy, and seemingly never ran out. The two got separated in the rowdy late night crowd of Shuckers, only to be reunited by another groomsman, Pat, who thought they should dance together. Mark, a shy person, loved the opportunity to dance with such a stunning girl without even having to ask. Annalise thought he was just being nice. The music faded as the two went their separate ways. Mark and Annalise both left that night with the same song running though their mind, “The One That Got Away” by Katy Perry. 	The next morning, the groomsmen staying in the AirBnB banded together to clean the place up before check out time. As Mark was doing the dishes, Pat, the hero of the night before asked, “Did you get that pretty girl’s number?” Mark replied “Nope, but I found her on Instagram, so I’ll probably slide into her DM’s” (“Direct-Messages” for those non-millennials). Pat famously replied, “Ah, modern problems require modern solutions”. 	A couple of Jackson, MS dates happened before Mark had to leave town to return to the beautiful PNW (again, please do not move here). Dozens of airline flights later the two got engaged. Even to this day they reflect on the idea that God is good and works in his time and that, indeed, modern problems really do require modern solutions.

Amanda and Annalise met in college. After finally remembering each other's names, they bonded over RUF and psychology. Later, they became coworkers and fellow counseling students.

Ann grew up next door to Annalise, and now they live next door to each other again. Ann is more than a neighbor though, she is like a sister and is known as "Big Sis"

Ashley and Annalise met in France during their time studying abroad. After college, they grew even closer, which is helped by the fact that Ashley has two very cute children.

Brittany and Annalise were destined to be friends long before they ever even met. Somehow, Annalise followed Brittany on Pinterest. They actually met through working for RUF and bonded over being Mississippi girls in Texas.

Cameron and Annalise were "twins" (meaning they had the same big sister) in their Chi Omega Sorority in college. They stuck together after graduation and have remained close through life changes.

Candace was Annalise's little sister in Chi Omega. They bonded over their faith and were even roommates during their time in France! Now they are happy to live in the same city again, if only for a little while.

Ellie and Annalise met when they started working for RUF together but bonded when they continued on to campus staff together. Many work trainings full of rooming together (and enjoying watching the Princess Diaries with milkshakes) later, they continue to bond over their love of Texas and concerts.

Annalise met Grace when they were 13 & 15 at Twin Lakes Camp. Annalise assumed Grace was too cool for her, so they didn't actually become friends until Candace re-introduced them in Dallas. Many long talks and Taylor Swift jam sessions later, they now both know neither of them are as cool as Grace once was.

Kat and Annalise met through a mutual friend at church. They bonded very quickly when they went to concert together and Annalise lost where she parked her car for an hour and a half. To this day, Kat sticks by Annalise's side no matter what she gets herself into.

Lauren and Annalise met in RUF in college, but their friendship blossomed in their regular hangouts on the porch, which they called "porch nights." Even if they can't always be on a porch in the same city, Lauren is always there to listen and ask thoughtful questions.

Leigh was like a big sister to Annalise when she moved to Dallas. Annalise enjoys following in Leigh's footsteps-she lived in Leigh's room after she moved out, is marrying a northerner like Leigh, is becoming a counselor like Leigh, and now works in college ministry at a church like Leigh. She's not obsessed with her, okay?

Lizzy and Annalise bonded through Chi Omega and RUF at Southern, where everyone got them confused as twins. Lizzy started working at Annalise's home church, and then Annalise started working there, too! People still get them confused, and they enjoy getting to be bff/co-workers.

Maddie and Annalise also grew close through being roommates at RUF training. Though they have always lived across the country from one another, their friendship is kept alive through memes and cheering each other on virtually. Maddie is one of her biggest cheerleaders.

Mary Paxton, if you can believe it, was Annalise's student at SMU. When she went on to do the internship at Indiana University, Annalise asked Mary Paxton a lot of questions about her feelings for her co-intern, Matthias. Mary Paxton became more like a sister than a student to Annalise, so she was happy to stand by Mary Paxton on her wedding day when she married Matthias! Oh yeah, and if you haven't heard, Mark is Matthias's brother and this is the wedding where Mark and Annalise met.

When Morgan Grace becomes a famous novelist soon, remember that you read here that Annalise knew her first. Their friendship started in France but has continued into adulthood as they bond through their love of books and workout challenges.

Ashley is Annalise's cousin, but they grew up like sisters. These days, they don't fight as much about which Nsync member they get to pretend to date, but they do love to enjoy eachother's company just the same.

Britney and Annalise met in Chi O and were in the same Chi O family. They refer to each other as Britniece and Auntilise! They stuck together in college and were grateful to share many fun times together in Chi O, and now, in adulthood.

Courtney and Annalise played and danced together when they were toddlers, but they reconnected as freshman roommates at Southern. They also went to France together and can often be found reminiscing of those glory days and all of their goofy shenanigans as roommates.

Emily and Annalise met in Dallas where they were roommates. Emily is also a counselor and gives much wisdom to Annalise. They grew their friendship over sweet late-night talks and prayer together.

Hannah and Annalise met in Chi O and formed a strong bond that lasted virtually until they were reconnected in Dallas. They share many loves, not the least of which is their faith, long talks, and similar music tastes.

Hannah was Annalise's big in Chi O and has truly been like a big sister to her. They have walked through a lot of life together and each time they hang out, it is like no time has passed. Wherever they may be living at the time, Hannah and Annalise always find a way to keep a strong relationship.

Kaelee and Annalise were roommates in Dallas, where they used to joke that they enjoyed watching each other sleep at night. In reality, they were probably staying up late waiting for the latest TSwift album drop or cleaning up after a themed house party.

Keighty and Annalise met at seminary through mutual friends. After running in the same circles for a while, one day they became instantly close. Keighty became like family in Dallas for Annalise.

Leigh is Annalise's cousin, but they are more like sisters. They grew up singing Britney Spears and charging their family members to watch their choregraphed dances.

Mallory and Annalise met in Chi O and bonded over attending date parties and rush workshops together. Annalise still remembers when Mallory's husband, Doug, told her he was going to propose to Mallory. Now they have a beautiful baby and one on the way!

Olivia and Annalise met in seminary but are often surprised they didn't come from the same womb. They love bonding over counseling, being an Enneagram 2 wing 3, and theories of how Christians should date.

Olivia and Annalise bonded over working for RUF in Texas together, where Annalise and others convinced Olivia to become an honorary Mississippian. You can usually find Olivia and Annalise listening to Beyonce, or dancing to "Yeah" by Usher.

Annalise knew immediately that she and Peyton would be friends when, during the first week of class at seminary, Peyton asked her if she liked the show Vanderpump Rules. They love to watch reality TV but also geek out over interpersonal neurobiology and play therapy.

Annalise first heard about Tara when Hannah Jones talked about wanting to recruit her for Chi O. Annalise thought Tara looked like Taylor Swift, so she was in. To this day, they are close friends, and let me tell you, Tara is better than TSwizzle...

Tousley and Annalise met as coworkers at SMU RUF and quickly bonded through their job and love of MS. Tousley made life more fun in Dallas and is a bright ray of sunshine wherever she goes!
