Where to stay + things to do

Seattle

Seattle offers a wide variety of activities and places to stay. North Seattle, where the Ackers live, has shopping, restaurants, and family ties. Downton offers tourist attractions like Pike Place Market, Seattle Center, the aquarium, and the waterfront plus access to SoDo and stadiums.

For North Seattle, stay at the Silver Cloud or an AirBnB/VRBO. For downtown, consider the Grand Hyatt.

Bellevue

Bellevue is halfway between the venue and Seattle. In this upscale urban area there is plenty of shopping (Lincoln Square or the Bellevue Collection), restaurants (downtown or Main St), museums, parks, and other entertainment.

Stay at an AirBnB/VRBO or at the Hyatt Regency. You can also stay at the Hyatt Renton, which is on the lake and not far from both Bellevue and Issaquah.

Issaquah

Issaquah is closest to the venue and about 30min east of Seattle. In this quieter area, outdoor activities abound (Lake Sammamish, Poo Poo Point, Squak & Tiger Mountains) and the old town center offers local restaurants and artist shops.
We recommend staying at an AirBnB/VRBO - use “May Valley Loop” trailhead as your search point. If you prefer a hotel, stay at the Springhill Suites - book by phone and mention you are attending a wedding to get a discounted rate. You can also stay at the Hyatt Renton, which is on the lake and not far from town.

Transportation

Fly into Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

We recommend renting a car & carpooling to the wedding. You can also use the Link Lite Rail to get to Seattle or use rideshare like Lyft and Uber.

Venue details

The wedding will take place outdoors at the Mitchell family home. There is limited parking in the grass field (100 yards of driving on grass) which will be well marked. Please try to carpool and wear appropriate shoes for grass and uneven ground.

You can also use rideshare (Uber/Lyft) from where you are staying or from the Issaquah park-and-ride.
