The Miracle of St. Francis

It was the summer of 2020. We had just emerged from months of lockdown, and Anne and Adam were about to meet for the first time on Madeline Island. You see, our parents had known each other for many, many years and would occasionally mention, "You should meet Anne" or "You should meet Adam" to us independently. The timing never quite worked out until the summer of 2020. Adam had stopped working for the Twins at the end of 2019 season, so his summers were now far less busy, and Anne's parents had just purchased a cabin on Madeline Island. The moment that our parents had waited for was about to happen. We hit it off right away and hung out quite a bit that weekend.

We met back on the island a few weeks later and had our first true date at Big Bay State Park. One night that weekend, we were sitting outside underneath the stars and enjoying each other's company. Adam looked over to a bird feeder outside of Dave and Michelle's cabin that has an image of St. Francis and muttered, "It's the miracle of St. Francis". It was kind of an odd statement to make but the sentiment was one of, "I have finally found my true love". We bonded over our love for animals, nature, music, hiking, and brownie brittle.

Anne moved into her apartment in Madison a few weeks later and Adam offered to help. We continued to see each other as much as we could. The drive from Madison to Minneapolis or vice versa seemingly less of a chore each time, surviving in between with long phone calls, FaceTimes and late nights swapping wins on Game Pigeon playing Anagrams, Darts, Mini Golf, etc.

We became engaged July of 2022. Anne took a leap of faith in August of that year and moved to Minneapolis. While Anne misses Wisconsin and her life/friends in Madison, she has found a new home in Minnesota with Adam and Bert.

We are looking forward to our wedding day and are excited for the next chapter in our life as a married couple!
