Our Wedding

January 29, 2020: We met at the Nite Owl in Blackstone after meeting through the dating app Hinge. We sat on the same side of the booth and shared some snacks, a couple drinks, and some laughs. The conversation rolled and our lives changed forever!&nbsp; A year went by of date nights, Creighton games, pool days, bonfires, yard projects, house projects, trips to Colorado and Washington, time spent with family, time spent with friends, time spent focusing on our faith, and finally a decision to move across the country to a little town in Washington called Port Angeles.&nbsp; January 29, 2021: Our 1-year dating anniversary came quickly as we were busy preparing to move to Washington. Mark kept things aloof but little did Annie know that he had a special night planned. We recreated our first date by wearing the same outfits and revisiting the Nite Owl. Then Mark took Annie to dinner at the Committee Chophouse, followed by a trip up to the rooftop of the Cottonwood Hotel. We were looking out at the Omaha skyline when Mark got down on one knee and proposed! The answer was YES! Having a few of our friends waiting downstairs to celebrate with us was the cherry on top of a perfect night.&nbsp; Since then we've been busy getting acclimated to a new state and new jobs, going on hiking and backpacking trips, playing golf, and planning our wedding! &nbsp;Meeting each other has been our greatest blessing. Our story continues and we are looking forward to 5.21.22!

Omaha is well-equipped with Uber and Lyft ride share services. The Blackstone area around our wedding venue and hotel is easily walkable so you could reasonably enjoy your visit to Omaha without having to rent a vehicle. (However, please note that our wedding ceremony location is 2.5 miles away from the reception/hotel venue.) Omaha is a very sprawling city so if you are wishing to explore more of it, we would recommend renting a vehicle.

Our wedding venue is located in the Blackstone district of Omaha. The neighborhood is full of historic buildings and beautiful architecture, as well as plenty of restaurants and bars. For a bite to eat, try Annie's personal favorite: Stirnella. Pop into Brother's Lounge to see if Mark still holds the high score on the Pac-Man machine! Also, we both recommend a drink at Nite Owl, the place where our story began.

Explore the Blackstone District

Tour the grounds of the beautiful Joslyn castle, built in 1903, at anytime, or take a look inside during their scheduled hours for public tours.

Just a couple of miles from Blackstone is the Old Market area in Omaha's downtown. There are many options to eat and drink as well as shops and boutiques. Walk the cobblestoned streets, behold the street entertainers &amp; musicians, and experience the energetic vibe. A couple of our favorite spots here include M's Pub for dinner, La Buvette for European wine and small plates, and Blue for sushi.

Explore the Old Market

If you are Catholic, we highly recommend Sunday Mass at St. Cecilia Cathedral. This beautiful cathedral, built in 1907, is a wonderful way to experience Mass. It is located just a short walk (around 8 blocks) from the Cottonwood hotel. St. Margaret Mary's church, where our ceremony will take place, is also a very beautiful church and another great option for Sunday Mass.
