Q + A

What should I wear?

Semi-formal/cocktail/formal attire: mid to full-length dresses, dress pants, button-up shirts, sport coats, suits, dress shoes, etc. The ceremony is outside, so please dress for the weather. Narrow heels are not recommended for the grassy ceremony site. No sneakers, shorts, or denim. White is reserved for the bride.

Can I bring a date?

All guests are named on the invitations. In order to include many important people in our lives, plus ones have been limited to the engaged or married couples we know. We are unable to accommodate additional guests. We will be very thoughtful in our seating arrangements to place you with people you know. We appreciate your understanding.

Is transportation/lodging provided?

We will not provide transportation or lodging for guests during our wedding weekend. There are plenty of readily available Uber and Lyft in Grand Rapids, and taxis often wait at the airport. We do not have a hotel block, so you may stay wherever you like. You may also ask us whether a mutual friend is invited that you can coordinate travel/lodging with.

What time should I be there?

Please arrive by 4:15 PM. Ushers will begin seating guests at 3:45 PM. The ceremony starts promptly at 4:30 PM.

Will there be a reception?

Following the outdoor ceremony, there will be a cocktail hour and an indoor reception. The reception hall is right next to the ceremony site. There is an outdoor patio where guests can mingle after the ceremony.

What if it rains?

In the event of rainy weather, the ceremony will move indoors to the reception space.

What's the parking situation?

Free parking is available right in front of the venue. Our signs and ushers will guide you to the ceremony location. TBD on whether you may leave your car overnight.

Are kids welcome?

All children invited are named on the invitation. This is a family-friendly event, but we have limited children to those we know well.

How to RSVP yes/no?

Let us know whether you're coming by filling out the form on the RSVP tab of our website by August 30th. RSVPs are grouped by invitation using the names as written on the envelope. Enter your name on the RSVP page and forms will appear for your party. Be sure to note which people in your group will or won't attend, and identify any dietary restrictions.
