The couple met in November of 2021. Kevin asked Annie if he could cook her dinner the Sunday after Thanksgiving. Annie thought she had met Kevin already, so it was an easy yes. However, once she got to his house that Sunday evening she realized she didn't know him after all. Still, she stayed for dinner. That night Kevin impressed her with his music taste, his knowledge of how to clean a cast iron correctly, and how he never missed a beat with her sarcasm. The rest is history.

The year of firsts, family introductions, and friend group outings. The couple fit right into each other's families as though they had known each other forever. Both meshed with each friend group like it was the missing piece. Kevin and Annie went to the same church, The Summit, but on different campuses. That quickly became something they did together on Sundays. Fishing, the lake, concerts, weekend trips and game nights were how they spent the remainder of their time. Kevin taught Annie how to fly fish and she was a natural. 2022 was also the year that Kevin became a dog person as Tusk was a package deal with Annie. It didn't take long for them to realize they were with the person they'd spend the rest of their lives with. In September of 2022, Kevin bought Annie's engagement ring and wedding band over the phone while in a field hunting in North Dakota.

At the beginning of 2023, Annie went to Lake Tahoe with Kevin and his family. Kevin taught Annie how to ski on what he thought was a green. It was a blue. In May, Kevin planned a surprise trip to Calico Rock to the White River. The couple stayed a couple of houses down from an old Sears Catalog house that had been in Kevin's family. They spent Saturday trout fishing on the White River. Annie suspected that something was coming, but once the day ended with no surprise, she thought it would be later in the year. That Sunday on the way out of town, Kevin took a detour to City Rock Bluff. Overlooking the White River, just the two of them, Kevin asked Annie to marry him! Easiest yes of her life! Later in August of 2023, the couple got their Golden Retriever, Tilly.
