While more affordable to fly to Montrose, please expect to rent a car if this is your choice. Getting Around Town

Crested Butte is a tiny town, so a car is not required to get around. However, don't rely on getting an Uber or Lyft. The town of Crested Butte has a free shuttle that runs every 20 minutes from 7:35 am to midnight between the heart of Crested Butte and the ski resorts on Mt. Crested Butte (including a stop at our hotel block location, Elevation). <a href="https://www.mtnexp.org/schedules-routes/summer/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Click here</a> to see the summer route map and schedule. If you're interested in a specific hike outside of town, Alpine Express and Dolly's Mountain Shuttle offer Trailhead Shuttles.

Getting There

Hotel Block in Mount Crested Butte

Pricing: $259 + 19.8% City of Crested Butte tax/night. Free wifi and discounted resort and parking fees as part of the block. Our room discount rates are available from Friday, July 11th&nbsp;to Sunday, July 13th&nbsp;and must be reserved by Wednesday, June 11th. Our hotel block is currently full, but please contact us if you would like us to add a room for you! Staying at Elevation will be the most convenient and affordable option for our guests and is highly recommended. The complimentary town shuttle runs every 15-minutes from 7:00am-12:00am and is an easy and reliable way to get from the hotel into town and has a pick-up onsite at the hotel. Elevation Hotel & Spa

We do not recommend staying in Crested Butte South or anywhere not along the shuttle route unless you are renting a car. Check out Airbnb locations in both Crested Butte and Mount Crested Butte. Please note, the main downtown with restaurants and shopping is on Elk Ave and near the wedding venue, so this is the ideal area to be close to the action and be walkable to main attractions.

Sightseeing around town

Easy Hikes

Wood's Walk

If you have a car and would like to explore this is a beautiful, short hike that’s travels through an old aspen grove to a beaver pond.

Two routes are available (moderate or strenuous) to access this beautiful high alpine lake. You can enjoy a swim on a hot summer day!&nbsp;

Scarp Ridge offers awe inspiring views, a ridgeline section, and 1,500 feet of elevation gain&nbsp;

Scarp Ridge

Take the silver queen chairlift then begin a 1 mile (2 miles RT), steep and rewarding hike to the summit of Mt. Crested Butte. You will have a rock scramble and 1,200 feet of elevation gain in one mile., Bring plenty of water and take your time!

Crested Butte Mountain Summit

Those 8 and up can enjoy a 1-3 hour horseback ride through the wildflowers with Fantasy Ranch.

Fantasy Ranch

Go white water rafting with Three Rivers based in Almont, a short 20 min drive from Crested Butte. They offer family friendly floats down the Gunnison or exciting class 3+ on the Upper Taylor.

Located in Gothic (7 miles north of Mt. Crested Butte), RMBL is a historical townsite and research station. It is a beautiful location to visit then stop by the gift shop or grab a coffee.

Rent a paddle board or E-bike through Wheelies and Waves. Depending on the flow at this time of year you may be able to float the Slate River through town on a paddle board or take it to Lake Irwin for a relaxing paddle on lake. A E-bike offers a fun way to explore town.
