Ryan Waczek - Best Man
As you could probably tell from the last name and hair cut Ryan is my big brother. He is my best friend, my mentor and a role model in faith and work ethic. Ryan is a really fun person to be around and I always get excited to see him. Whenever I'm watching sports Ryan's the one listening to me ramble on around stats and players. To the outmost dismay of our partners we can talk shop about music and video gear for hours. Daydreaming about the gear we could buy. Once I was able to competently play an instrument, Ryan and my sister Catherine, recruited me to play in their bands. He brought me into the fold and supported me and taught me how to perform. Once I went into college, Ryan returned the favor starring as the lead in my second short film. We've always stepped up for each other and supported each other. I had the privilege in 2019 to be his best man at his wedding and I couldn't think of a better person to stand next to me on my wedding day.
Jamie Colbert - Maid of Honor
I met Jamie while I was in kindergarten and instantly became best friends. We lived across the street from each other growing up which of course meant we spent an incredible amount of time together. Jamie actually did my hair before my first date with Kevin and was there to ask all the questions about my date as soon as I got home :) She has been a huge friend and support through my relationship with Kevin. Not only is she an amazing friend, she is insanely organized and confident in her skills. She graduated from University of San Francisco with a focus in Hospitality and event planning. She lives in San Francisco (long distance friendship - though we all know I'm a pro at long distance), where she has worked many jobs in the wedding industry - thus of course I'm taking advantage of my best friend who happens to be perfectly skilled for wedding planning :) Even though she doesn't live close by, we make sure to text/call frequently and we try to meet up at least a few times a year! She has been an amazing friend and support in my life and I can't wait to have her by my side on the big day:)
Emily Benzie - Maid of Honor
I met Emily when I was in preschool. We soon became best friends and were pretty inseparable through elementary school and middle school. We would spend almost every day after school at one of each other's houses. Emily graduated from UC Davis where she studied genetics. She is now a kick ass scientist working in the lab with genetics. She too happens to live in San Francisco (which sadly means more long distance friendships), but we always make time to see each other at least a few times a year (aside from the obvious phone calls and texting). Not only is she a scientist, she is a kick ass rebel rally winner. She has competed in Jeep rallies twice now with her mom where they have no navigation other than a compass and a map to get to the different locations needed. She is definitely offering direction in the unmapped territory of wedding planning :) I'm so happy to have this kick ass lady by my side when I say "I do". Especially since she was there when I first started texting Kevin and would coach me on what to say to impress this amazing boy :)
Trevor Neuenswander - Groomsman
I met Trevor my sophomore year in film school at San Diego State. I remember the first time I met him. He was the "hot shot" in class by being the only person to have worked on a Hollywood feature film. At the time I was working at the movie theatre and had just sold tickets to that same movie the day before. You could say I immediately introduced myself and asked if he wanted to join my project. After our first project together, he quickly became my right hand man and we made almost every film together as a director and cinematographer combo. Not only did we work well together we also have the same taste buds. We would consistently order the same food no matter where we were, like clockwork. Trevor has become a trusted friend on and off set.
Ben Nusenow - Groomsman
I have known Ben since 2006 when I moved in next door. Through elementary, middle school, and high school we've played countless hours of whiffle ball, bump, butts up, and many more games we would make up. We even had our own whiffle ball world series. Everyday I would look forward to hanging out with him after school until the sun went down. As the years past, we starting playing less and working out more. I purchased a squat stand in my garage and we worked out together up to 5 times a week (when we were consistent). We called our garage "Get Ripped Gym" and always joked about making a franchise one day. Ben has turned into quite the movie buff and I am always excited to share my latests projects with him. Ben is my neighbor but he is also my little brother.
Alessandra Waczek - Bridesmaid
I met Alessandra when I was in high school. She was dating Ryan (Kevin's Best Man and brother) at the time, and was attending Cal Poly Slo with him. She visited a few times and it soon became clear that we were very similar to each other. We had similar taste and likes and it soon became a joke that we were the same people. We've been best friends for the last 4 years and I had the pleasure of being a bridesmaid at her wedding. Alessandra and I LOVE wine and use every excuse possible to enjoy some rosé with one another. She has a degree in concert piano and also a masters in music management. She has wonderfully (and sadly) moved to Nashville, Tennessee to pursue her dream of working in the music industry - but long distance doesn't stop us from texting or calling almost every day! Of course having had her own wedding before, she has been a God-send in helping with decision making with wedding planning :)
Oh and of course I must mention our equal obsession with cats. Yes, we are proud cat ladies.
Ashley Marron - Bridesmaid
I met Ashley pretty soon after being born. She is my cousin and we would often hang out together when we were younger. She would come to visit me almost every other weekend for a period of time when I was in elementary school. Having lived in the Inland Empire for the last year, I've been blessed to live close to her for the first time in my life. She has been one of my saving graces while working as a nurse at Loma Linda University Medical Center as a COVID nurse when it's difficult to visit my families. We've spent many evenings together watching Disney movies and eating take out food to take a much needed break from the chaos of the world. She has the sweetest American bulldog/boxer mix who would rather hide in the corner than let me pet her but one day the dog will love me :) She has had much schooling and recently graduated from Cal Poly Pomona where she got a degree in Hospitality. Hopefully after this pandemic she can finally start her dream job in her desired field. She is extremely organized and also informed on wedding planning and event planning, making her yet another huge aspect to my wedding planning :)
Alex Barr - Groomsman
Alex is Annie's little brother. But he's really not that much younger than us at all. We get along really well, always joke around with one another, and find a way to have a good time. At one point I looked at him as just Annie's little brother, but after some family vacations together and after being around the Barr family for this long, I see him as a good friend, and a great guy to be around. Alex and I have really bonded over music (he loves to DJ and I play drums). I remember when we sat together on the shore in Florida sharing our favorite tracks during the sunset. I was excited when he received a guitar last year for Christmas. I look forward to seeing him become a rockstar on his new guitar and look forward to having him as a new part of my family.
Mackenzie Cottle - Groomsman
Mackenzie has always been a true and reliable friend. It doesn't matter what you need or what's happening, you can always count on Mackenzie. We first got close in 6th grade and continued that friendship through middle school and high school. He technically starred in my very first video project which was a video for English class. It was a remake of the book Beowulf. It was that kind of video that was hilariously awful and only funny to those that made it. Even through college we would continue to make efforts to see each other during every break and holiday for evening bonfires, thanksgiving morning football, and competitive poker nights. Mackenzie is an incredibly kind individual and I look forward to having him with me on the big day.
Emily van Dyken - Bridesmaid
I met Emily my sophomore year of nursing school at Gonzaga University in Spokane WA. We started out as study buddies in a microbiology class and quickly became best friends. It was clear we had similar personalities, study styles, and feelings about nursing. We spent many many many days studying nursing together which will bring you closer in ways that is unexplainable. It seemed like there wasn't a single day in college that we didn't spend together! When you go through nursing school together, you create an inseparable bond that lasts forever. To this day we talk almost every day despite her living in Spokane, WA (yes another long distance relationship - seems I'm very good at them). Emily is a registered nursing working as an oncology nurse for adults. Her dream job is to be a pediatric oncology nurse - which I know she will be amazing at since she is one of the kindest and sweetest individuals I've ever met:)
Mariah Strykers - Bridesmaid
I met Mariah my freshman year at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA. She happened to be my next door neighbor in the dorms. We really became good friends sophomore year of college when we had almost every class together. She started our microbiology study group and introduced me to Emily van Dyken. Mariah and I quickly became best friends. She and I had a similar falling out situations with friends from freshman year. Not only did that bring us together, but we went through nursing school together. We studied together almost every day for hours at a time. Emily, Mariah, and I were inseparable from sophomore to senior year of college. She is truly an amazing friend and an even better nurse. She works as a registered nurse in Martinez, CA (home of the martini like she always tells us :), which is next to San Francisco). Yes, I know I need some friends in San Diego, the long distance is getting out of hand. She works as a medical surgical nurse and is fighting the COVID fight in northern CA.
James Poirier - Groomsman
James has been a part of the OG friend group since I can remember. I still remember playing the national anthem for the start of the little league baseball season way back in 5th grade together. He was on Sax and I was on trombone. He was there for all the bonfires, all the poker nights and all the morning football sessions. I still remember when he beat my four of a kind with a slightly higher four of a kind in the most unreal poker hand I've ever played. James has an electric personality and is always ready to have a good time. I can't wait to continue to have fun with him on my wedding day.
